Best Bet:
Race 6 No. 2 Impish Lady
The daughter of Impending showed ability in recording two top four finishes from three starts in 2024.
However, the filly has shown improved form since returning from a spell including when breaking her maiden over 1212m at Geelong a month ago.
Racing on a good 4 surface the pick raced prominently prior to breaking her maiden in impressive fashion by two-and-a-half-lengths.
The selection duly followed up when tackling winners for the first time in a 1200m Benchmark 64 handicap at Ballarat just under two weeks ago.
The filly remains at Benchmark 64 level for this contest with apprentice Logan Bates taking a valuable one-and-a-half-kilogram’s off her back.
Barrier three is a further positive here and she looks capable of completing a hat-trick for trainer Gavin Bedggood.
Next Best:
Race 8 No. 1 Santa Ana Moon
The gelding placed third in a 1200m maiden at this venue when making his debut earlier this season.
The pick lost out by just over a length that day and he returned from a spell with a half-length success in a 1200m metro maiden held on the Lakeside track at Sandown.
The son of Puissance de Lune went on to deliver a respectable fifth of eight in a Benchmark 70 handicap over 1400m at Warrnambool at the start of this month.
The three-year-old raced on a wet track for the first time that day and the return to a sound surface and switch to a Class 1 event are both positives.
Connections scratched from a 1400m contest at Flemington last Saturday to head here and that decision can pay dividends with a win.
Market Mover:
Race 1 No. 1 Banxi
Chris Waller’s representative has shown his best form to date on a sound surface including when two lengths fourth over 1400m at Kembla Grange first up this prep.
The three-year-old’s two subsequent efforts have both come on wet tracks and punters have latched on to Teo Nugent’s mount returning to good ground.
Stepping up in distance, the Fastnet Rock gelding has been backed early at Neds ($5.00-$4.60).
Stats Say:
The Lloyd Kennewell & Lucy Yeomans stable can boast a 33% strike-rate (7/21) at this venue and their sole runner on the card is El Fortress in the fifth race of the day.
The son of Tassort was beaten just over two-and-a-half-lengths when fifth in a 1000m maiden at Bendigo when racing first up this prep.
The three-year-old tackles 1200m for the first time here having finished seventh over 1000m at Pakenham last time with Craig Newitt a positive jockey booking.
