Jim Taylor’s filly registered a couple of placed efforts in maiden company earlier this prep including when beaten less than a length into third at Pinjarra in March.
The pick went on to break through for her first maiden when racing on Pinjarra’s Scarpside course at the start of last month on her penultimate outing.
Facing off against eight rivals in a 1000m contest the filly came home nearly three lengths clear of her nearest pursuer in a race that saw her jump at $1.80.
The youngster recorded a comfortable success that day with the fourth and fifth both going on to deliver victories subsequently.
The selection returned to this venue to deliver a good second place finish when beaten just over half-a-length having raced from the front over this distance two weeks ago.
Jason Brown’s mount has proven she can be competitive against previous winners and she looks value to register a win.
Petaluma Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Ascot Best Bet - Race 4 No. 8 Black Ora
The three-year-old showed good form in five starts last prep including when placing twice at this venue having broken her maiden on debut at Northam in December.
The daughter of Playing God was spelled following the second of those course placed efforts and she resumed with a comfortable victory by over two lengths at Pinjarra Scarpside last month.
The pick raced over 1200m when jumping at short odds for that contest and she duly completed a double on her return to this venue ten days later.
The filly had no issue dropping back to 1000m on that occasion and she is set to receive weight from all of her rivals in this event.
The selection has raced close to the speed in both starts this prep and she has a good barrier here with similar tactics expected.
William Pike, on board for all three of her previous victories retains the ride here and his mount looks up to completing a hat-trick.
PKF Perth Plate Tips (Race 5)
Ascot Roughie - Race 5 No. 4 Now You See Me
The gelding showed up well in taking out a couple of barrier trials at Belmont prior to making her racecourse debut in the 1100m Crystal Slipper Stakes here in November.
The pick jumped at big odds that day beating just one rival home and having been spelled following that effort she returned to action over this track and trip last month.
Racing against older rivals as the sole two-year-old in a twelve-runner field the pick was beaten just over four lengths in finishing third having jumped at $31 that day.
Both of those efforts have come on good 4 tracks and he is expected to have improved for his latest outing.
Sue Olive’s youngster boasts a good barrier four from the rail while he is expected to appreciate the extra 100m he tackles here.
The selection is back racing against his own age group here and with that in mind he may prove capable of upsetting some better-fancied rivals.
MCA Polytrack Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Ascot Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Golden Vale
The daughter of Churchill is a winner at this venue already this prep having delivered a track and trip win in a Benchmark 66+ handicap at the start of February.
The filly, who was placed in Listed company here earlier this season has placed in two of her three starts since that course success with the exception coming in a Pinjarra Listed race next time.
Simon Miller’s representative lost out by less than a length when placing third in a similar race to this held over course and distance on her penultimate start.
The pick was freshened following that effort and came within half-a-length of recording her fourth career win when runner-up dropped to 1000m here two weeks ago.
The return to this distance is a positive while an inside barrier for the fifth time in six starts this prep is a further positive.
Clint Johnston-Porter retains the ride here and his mount looks capable of recording her fourth win at this venue.
