2026 NRL Supercoach Preview: Sydney Roosters
The Sydney Roosters are a complex team for Supercoach enthusiasts in 2026. Despite their elite talent and depth, predicting consistent Supercoach returns remains challenging. While James Tedesco stands out as a safe choice due to his consistent performance and reliability, Angus Crichton offers stability on the edges. However, early gambles on Roosters players are discouraged, as the team often lacks breakout cash cows or budget-friendly starting options. Supercoach managers should watch the team closely in the opening rounds for shifting roles and potential opportunities, owing to their deep rotations and high-priced stars.
- James Tedesco is a reliable Supercoach pick for consistent returns.
- Avoid early picks on Roosters - roles will stabilize as the season progresses.
- Monitor key roles and minutes in the initial rounds for scoring opportunities.

2026 NRL Supercoach Preview: Sydney Roosters
The Sydney Roosters enter the 2026 season as one of the hardest teams to read from a Supercoach perspective.

- What to Watch Before Jumping In
There is no shortage of elite talent, but that has always been the Roosters’ problem for fantasy players. Too many quality options, too much depth, and not enough certainty about where the points consistently come from.
The Roosters are not a team you need to attack early in Supercoach.
James Tedesco and Angus Crichton offer safety if you want exposure, but beyond that, restraint is the smarter option. Let roles settle, let the season reveal its patterns, and then strike when certainty replaces reputation.
This is a side built to win football games. It is not always built to make Supercoach easy.
Why the Roosters Are a Tricky Supercoach Team in 2026
The Roosters rarely present obvious Supercoach value. Their best players are priced accordingly, and their depth often limits breakout opportunities.
This is a team you usually want to watch before committing rather than loading up from Round 1.
If clarity emerges, the rewards can be huge. If you guess wrong early, you can burn trades quickly.
James Tedesco: Still the Safest Roosters Pick
James Tedesco remains the safest Supercoach option at the Roosters.
Despite his age, his work rate, involvement and leadership have not dropped and he is still one of the Top 5 Fullbacks in the league. If anything, his game has matured. He picks his moments better, but still racks up base points through carries, support play and defensive involvement.
From a Supercoach point of view, Tedesco is what he has always been: reliable. You are not picking him for explosive price growth. You are picking him because you know he will deliver week after week.
Angus Crichton and the Edge Stability
If there is one Roosters forward Supercoach players can trust, it is Angus Crichton.
Crichton’s appeal comes from role security. His minutes are strong, his edge role is defined, and his base output remains one of the best among second-rowers.
He benefits from quality halves and outside backs, but his scoring is not reliant on attacking stats alone. That makes him one of the few Roosters who can be considered without overthinking rotation or role changes.
Why the Roosters Don’t Offer Early Cash Cows
This is where Supercoach players often go wrong with the Roosters.
There are no obvious cheap starters or breakout cash cows coming out of the Sydney squad based on what was discussed in the episode. Most players are either:
- established and priced high, or
- part of deep rotations that cap minutes and scoring
Trying to force a Roosters cheapie into your Round 1 side is usually a mistake. Historically, the better play has been patience.
What to Watch Before Jumping In
The Roosters are a team to monitor closely in the opening rounds.
Key things to watch:
- How attacking responsibility is shared early
- Whether any player’s role expands unexpectedly
- How consistently minutes are distributed through the middle and edges
Once clarity arrives, Supercoach value often follows. It just rarely appears in Round 1.
