Port Adelaide Power vs West Coast Eagles AFL 2026 Round 3 FAQ’s

Port Adelaide will land a comfortable win over West Coast with Mitch Georgiades amongst the goals in AFL Round 3 action.

The Power are 1-1 to start the season, coming off a dominant 63-point win over Essendon after a Round 1 loss to North Melbourne, while the Eagles are also 1-1 after defeating North Melbourne by 17 points following a heavy loss to Gold Coast. Back at Adelaide Oval, Port’s scoring power and midfield depth should be decisive.

Port Adelaide’s game is built around fast ball movement, forward pressure and midfield control, and that profile was on full display in their 133-point output last week.

Zak Butters continues to drive the midfield, while Jason Horne-Francis adds explosiveness and scoreboard impact. Mitch Georgiades looms as a major threat inside 50, having kicked 21 goals from his past five matches at Adelaide Oval in wins.

West Coast will look to stay competitive through their pressure-based system that looks to restrict uncontested ball and force turnovers. Harley Reid comes off a strong 30-disposal performance and shapes as their key midfield driver, but their lack of clearance dominance and vulnerability early in games is a concern against Port’s midfield.

Port’s strength at Adelaide Oval, combined with their ability to generate repeat inside 50s and scoreboard pressure, should see them control the game. Expect territory dominance and scoring efficiency to separate the sides.

Head to Head Stats

Port Adelaide have dominated this matchup recently, winning their past four clashes against West Coast by an average of 50 points, all at Adelaide Oval.

In their most recent meeting, Port Adelaide won by 26 points with Zak Butters collecting 38 disposals, while Jason Horne-Francis had 27 disposals and three goals. Harley Reid matched him with 27 disposals in a strong performance.

Port Adelaide Power Form Analysis & Team News

Port Adelaide are 1-1 to start the season, bouncing back strongly from a Round 1 loss with a 63-point win over Essendon where they piled on 133 points.

Their strengths lie in midfield depth and fast ball movement, allowing them to generate high inside 50 numbers and scoring opportunities. Butters and Horne-Francis continue to drive their midfield dominance, while Georgiades provides a reliable forward target.

Their main weakness appears when their ball use breaks down under pressure, which can expose them defensively. However, at Adelaide Oval their system holds up far more consistently.

Port Adelaide Power Team News

Connor Rozee is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after suffering a high-grade hamstring tendon rupture, with surgery likely, removing a key layer of midfield class for Port Adelaide.

The Power will also be without Miles Bergman this week due to an ankle sprain and bruised heel, creating another hole in their setup.

West Coast Eagles Form Analysis & Team News

West Coast are 1-1 after a strong win over North Melbourne following a heavy loss to Gold Coast in Round 1.

Their key strength is a pressure-led defensive system that aims to restrict opposition ball movement and force turnovers. Harley Reid (30 disposals last match) is emerging as a key midfielder, while their even contribution across the ground is a positive.

However, they are not a dominant clearance side and can struggle early in games. Turnovers and inability to consistently control territory remain their biggest weaknesses, particularly against stronger midfield teams.

West Coast Eagles Team News

Harry Edwards will miss through concussion protocols which forces a defensive reshuffle for the Eagles.

Reuben Ginbey is likely to again play a key defensive role, while Sandy Brock may come into consideration, impacting their defensive structure.
