The Brisbane Broncos are anticipated to secure a decisive victory over the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL Round 5 matchup, continuing their strong form from their recent victories. With key players like Reece Walsh playing his 100th NRL game and Kotoni Staggs on a scoring spree, the Broncos are heavily favored. The Titans, despite winning their last game against the Dragons, need to show significant improvement to challenge the reigning premiers, suggesting a comfortable win for Brisbane.

Gold Coast Titans vs Brisbane Broncos NRL Round 5 Tips & Prediction

The Broncos are set to emerge triumphant in their second Queensland derby in succession when they take on the Titans at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday.

One week after downing the Dolphins, the Broncos will continue to try and put the off-field distractions behind them when they face a Titans side coming off their opening win of the season.

This really should be a straightforward victory for Brisbane - they have Payne Haas back from injury and I like Jesse Arthars returning on the wing. Reece Walsh is playing his 100th NRL game - surely he's set for another electrifying performance, while Kotoni Staggs has been on fire to start the year, scoring five tries in his last three games.

Matty Johns and Gordie Tallis were sent into euphoria with the Titans winning their first game of the season last week, but it was only against the Dragons. I'm going to need to see A LOT more from this Gold Coast side to have any faith in them against the elite sides - let alone the reigning premiers who appear motivated and back in the mood.

Either way, I see plenty of points this Saturday night - take the Broncos for a comfortable 13+ victory, with Staggs and Walsh getting amongst the meat pies.
  • Broncos have won their last two games vs Titans by 13+ margins
  • Four of Titans' last six defeats have been by 13+ margins
  • Broncos have won three of their last four games at Cbus Super Stadium
  • Titans have already lost vs two Queensland teams in 2026 (Dolphins & Cowboys)
  • Three of the last four meetings have seen 58+ points
  • Kotoni Staggs has scored five tries in his last three games
  • Reece Walsh has three tries in his last three games & scored a double vs Titans in R14 last year

Titans vs Broncos Head To Head

The Titans were on a three-game winning streak against the Broncos before last season, with Brisbane turning the tables with a pair of 13+ victories.

Gold Coast Titans Form Analysis

It was a dismal start to the season for the Titans as they swallowed 50 points by Cronulla, effectively ending their premiership chances if you believe the '50-point curse'.

Gold Coast improved slightly defensively, but still lost 18-14 to the Dolphins and 30-16 to the Cowboys in their next two outings.

However, the Titans managed to dig out a tough 22-14 victory over the Dragons last week, earning their first win of 2026.

Second-rower Arama Hau was the main man for Gold Coast, breaking through on the edge for two tries in a destructive performance.

Gold Coast Titans Team News

No changes, with Josh Hannay sticking with the same squad that edged the Dragons last week.

Brisbane Broncos Form Analysis

As usual, plenty of off-field drama surrounding the Broncos, but they've managed to brush it to the side after a poor 0-2 start that saw them fall to the Panthers and Eels.

Michael Maguire's side stepped it up with a brilliant 18-14 comeback victory over the Storm at AAMI Park, their first win in 15 years at the venue.

Despite assistant coach Ben Te'o resigning mid-week, the Broncos held firm and outclassed the Dolphins 26-12 last week.

Kotoni Staggs scored another double with the first and last tries of the contest, while Reece Walsh continues to prove why he's the most dangerous attacking player in the competition.

Brisbane Broncos Team News

Payne Haas returns from a shoulder injury, meaning Xavier Willison goes back to the bench.

Grant Anderson is out injured, so Jesse Arthars gets a recall on the wing, while Gehamat Shibasaki also finds himself back in the starting side at centre for Josiah Karapani, who has been dropped.
