This settled Sharks side are set to make light work of the Titans as the two sides launch their respective seasons at Ocean Protect Stadium on Saturday.
You get the feeling that it's now or never for the Cronulla Sharks in 2026 if they're going to make a premiership run - they've had basically the same squad for the last few years and Craig Fitzgibbon has been at the helm for a while. The spine of Will Kennedy, Braydon Trindall, Nicho Hynes and Blayke Brailey are vastly experienced playing together, they have some speedy outside backs and Addin Fonua-Blake leading the pack. Cronulla Sharks Form Analysis
As mentioned, this is a settled and familiar Sharks side. We know how they're going to play and who's pivotal to their success. Those key figures simply need to step up - especially Nicho Hynes, who is on the big bucks and controlling the side at halfback.
Cronulla did well to knock off the Raiders and make the semi-finals last season before falling by eight points to Melbourne. It was a pass mark. But whether they have that extra level to make a prelim and Grand Final remains to be seen.

As always, there's lots of potential and firepower in this Titans side - Josh Hannay's primary areas to fix up are defence, focus and consistency.
Gold Coast conceded 30 points per game in 2025. It's been that way for a few years now and that simply needs to be reduced considerably if the Titans are going to contend for the finals this year.
The Titans finished in second-last on the ladder with just six wins from 24 games in 2025, so things can't get much worse. Gold Coast did manage to build some confidence as they took out the Preseason Challenge, defeating the Dolphins and Storm.
The players have faith in Hannay to turn things around.
“It's been good having Josh as our head coach, he's definitely bringing the structure of footy that he wants us to play and I think it's just been really refreshing, the change,” said rep forward Moeaki Fotuaika.
“I'm just excited to head into the season and he's got us working hard, like all coaches, but I'm just excited for what the season brings ahead."
