Morphettville Best Bet - Race 1 No. 4 Under And Over
Under And Over is a three-time winner who ended her last prep with a victory in a 1200m Benchmark 64 at Moonee Valley in November. That performance confirmed her quality and was followed by a pair of solid efforts in defeat, including a third at Murray Bridge over the same trip.
She was spelled after that run and returned last month with a fourth placing on the Parks track here, racing on a rain-affected surface for just the third time in her career. Beaten just over two lengths in that 1000m Benchmark 72, she was doing her best work late.
The step up to 1200m is a clear positive, with both her overall record and previous second-up form pointing to further improvement. Her Moonee Valley success took her second-up tally to two wins from three starts, which adds confidence.
From a good draw and with Jason Holder booked, she looks ideally placed to make her presence felt again. Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor’s mare should prove tough to hold out.
Sydney McDonald Memorial Handicap Tips (Race 4)
Morphettville Value Bet - Race 4 No. 3 Savatoff
Savatoff has been consistent since resuming, placing in three of four runs this campaign. He finished second-up with a strong effort when racing on pace at Port Augusta, finishing runner-up over 1498m, before struggling at big odds on the Parks track.
He quickly bounced back with his first win of 2025 when saluting in a 1550m Benchmark 58 here last month. That day he showed a sharp turn of foot to put a three-length margin on his rivals from barrier seven on soft ground.
The gelding confirmed his progress with another victory two weeks later, taking out a 1600m Benchmark 56 at Strathalbyn in good style. That effort showed he was thriving with racing and capable of handling a rise in distance.
Dropping back in trip holds no fears and with his confidence restored, he appeals as a value play to continue his good form.
Sportsbet W H Wylie Handicap (Listed) Tips (Race 8)
Morphettville Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 4 Press Down
Press Down took out this race twelve months ago and is back to defend his crown. He didn’t manage a win in six subsequent starts, but he showed he still has the ability with two competitive placings during that prep.
The first of those came when third in the Group 3 John Hawkes Stakes over this track and trip in April, beaten just over two lengths. That effort came second-up after resuming with a midfield run at the same course and distance.
He then struck trouble from a wide barrier when finishing down the field in the Group 1 Goodwood, but bounced back in June when narrowly beaten in the Golden Topaz at Swan Hill. That run suggested he was close to rediscovering his best form.
All four of his runs last campaign came on good tracks, which are again forecast, and he is a proven fresh performer. With conditions to suit, he looks well placed to repeat last year’s victory.

Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 15 Beautiful Jewel
Beautiful Jewel faced tough assignments last season, running in Group 3 company and tackling the Group 1 Australasian Oaks over 2000m here in April. She also produced a respectable effort in the SA Fillies Classic, finishing fourth over 2500m.
Spelled after that run, she returned to the track last month without a trial and acquitted herself well fresh over 1400m. On that occasion she finished runner-up in a Benchmark 68, beaten narrowly but showing sharp improvement back in trip.
She has previously won on heavy ground, so the soft conditions proved no concern, and she looks likely to come on for that run. The rise in distance this time should be ideal, with her stamina proven at longer trips.
Travis Doudle has opted to apply blinkers for the first time, while she has also drawn kindly. With those factors in her favour, she shapes as the one they’ll have to hold out.
