Hawkesbury Tips May 21

Titan AG F&M Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)

Hawkesbury Favourite - Race 2 No. 1 Alnair

While she never threatened in three runs through her first campaign, those early-season efforts were better than they read on paper.

Alnair was a massive price on debut at Newcastle, where she worked home late before again finishing off in a Nowra Super Maiden that was dominated on speed.

She then struck a similar race shape at Wyong in October before heading for a spell.

The May 2 resumption was comfortably the best performance of her career, with the three-year-old rallying for second behind what looks a classy National News.

Third and fourth from that event also brought strong references, with Cosmic Eagle metro placed earlier in the year and Royal Botanic subsequently runner-up in a Super Maiden over the Scone Carnival.

Hawkesbury Value Bet - Race 3 No. 2 Rogue Nation

Goulburn trainer Danny Williams is no stranger to a good horse and he appears to have a talented one in Rogue Nation.

The gelding was appropriately named given his debut at Wagga in February, where he veered sharply right and threw away the race.

Rogue Nation was then spelled after that first race-day appearance and has since completed two autumn trials leading into Thursday’s return.

The latest of those came at Moruya on May 10 when the four-year-old bolted in over 920m.

He is clearly still a work in progress, although the raw ability is evident and he's an each-way quote in a competitive maiden.

Adama Midway Class 1 Handicap Tips (Race 5)

Hawkesbury Best Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Above The Law

Above The Law brought strong form into his stable debut for Beer and Carpenter on May 5, including six placings from his first seven starts.

The gelding justified a $1.30 quote there with a half-length victory that may prove a confidence booster going forward.

While he did not exactly put them to the sword, Above The Law was never really in danger and both the second and third placegetters from that race brought solid references.

The runner-up from that May 5 event was also narrowly beaten at Newcastle on Tuesday, which further strengthens the form.

Above The Law has never missed a placing in four wet-track attempts, including seconds behind Barbarossa and She’s A Diva, who have both been competitive at stakes level.

Floratine Products Group Class 1 Tips (Race 6)

Hawkesbury Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Matima

This Godolphin three-year-old was gelded ahead of his 2026 return, which came in a one-paced Rosehill effort on February 25.

Thursday’s assignment is a sharp class drop from a metropolitan BM72 back to a provincial Class 1.

A Warwick Farm trial last month suggested Matima was back on track and blinkers are reapplied here.

The gelding did not quite come up during a short spring preparation, although he showed promise as a juvenile with a debut victory at Hawkesbury before two Saturday metropolitan placings.

It could be worth noting that Matima may just be a wet tracker, with all of those two-year-old references coming on rain-affected ground, while his dam’s only look at a Heavy 10 surface resulted in a Listed victory.
