Eagle Farm Favourite - Race 3 No. 7 Wrigley Field

It is well and truly approaching D-day for Wrigley Field, with trainer Jack Bruce opting to back him up after he was beaten as favourite at Doomben last Saturday and blinkers now replacing the winkers.

The gelding has been racing well since joining the new stable, including a brave August 8 effort when he stayed at 1400m and worked hard from off the speed in a testing contest.

He was entitled to be hard to beat in a BM68 on August 22, but there were genuine excuses in the narrow defeat, having given 7kg to the winner and 3kg to the runner-up while also being steadied and shifted off heels early.

Wrigley Field never looked completely comfortable when the tempo slackened and may be better suited being allowed to find his feet before producing his finish, with the wider draw potentially encouraging those tactics here.

Ryan Maloney has options aboard a fit horse who has shown tactical versatility, and in a race lacking depth, Wrigley Field gets another look.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 6 No. 12 Get Ready Lass

There was plenty of merit in Get Ready Lass' first-up effort at the Sunshine Coast on July 4, where she raced wide and worked throughout before understandably tiring late.

That effort may have left her a little flat second-up at Eagle Farm on July 25, when she never looked comfortable from a tricky draw, failed to muster enough early speed and eventually dropped out after starting at a single-figure quote.

The setup looks kinder this time for the Chris Anderson-trained mare, who should be able to settle closer to the speed from a lower draw.

Her previous campaign contained some consistent form, with a win and three runner-up finishes from five starts, including two seconds over this track-and-trip, the first behind handy sprinter Earn To Burn, who was last seen winning at Listed level at Eagle Farm in June.

Moonhaven is another at a bigger price worth respecting after an even return, with this an easier assignment and two previous wins over the Eagle Farm track and distance.

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Grinzinger Champ

Grinzinger Champ faces a couple of new challenges on Saturday, including stepping out of fillies and mares company, although the BM78 grade itself should not prove beyond her.

She won at this benchmark when completing a hat-trick at Doomben on August 15, producing a stylish performance and continuing an excellent start to her campaign for Jack Bruce.

The 1400m is the main unknown, but this looks the right time to test her at the trip given the way she has been finding the line through four runs for the stable, while she rises only half a kilogram from her latest win.

Her first-up Eagle Farm effort behind subsequent Sydney winner Sword Of Legacy also showed she handles this circuit, and she looks capable of bringing up a four-peat.

Zouper Fund is another to respect after a good Sandown return when well backed in stronger company than this, while he has since had another two runs following a freshen-up and was scratched from a tougher Sydney race last week.

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 9 No. 5 Livalittle

Leading Queensland trainer Tony Gollan prepares Livalittle, a versatile five-year-old by The Autumn Sun who has produced very few poor efforts throughout his career.

He rounded out the summer with a winning hat-trick over 1800m and beyond, but has shown he is equally effective over shorter distances this winter, including a track-and-trip victory second-up on July 25 when producing the fastest closing sectionals of the race.

The gelding arguably should have won again on August 8, when he was set a significant task from back in the field, held up at key stages and forced to shift out around the 200m before rattling home too late.

That race was won by Golden Cross, who subsequently franked the form with a strong victory in the Murwillumbah Cup last week.

A lower draw should give Livalittle the opportunity to settle closer after wide gates in his past two starts, and if he simply holds his current form he looks hard to beat, while Last Command appeals as the main danger at an each-way price.
