The Belmont Racecourse hosts a competitive seven-race program this Wednesday with the rail out 18m and a Soft 6 track. Key suggested bets include So Si God in Race 1 as the best bet due to proven form and excuses for a recent miss; Centre Bond in Race 7 each way, offering value with a strong second-up record; and Vaulting Spirit, a promising filly at big odds in Race 3. Racegoers are advised to consider these highlighted runners for their value and potential.

Belmont Tips September 2

Western Racepix Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Belmont Best Bet - Race 1 No. 3 So Si God

There were genuine excuses for So Si God's first-up defeat as a drifting favourite over this track and trip on August 22, with the mare casting a plate during the run and returning with her tongue over the bit.

A bit lifter is applied ahead of Wednesday's assignment, where she drops sharply in grade to a midweek Class 1 and also gets some weight relief through Natika Riordan's 3kg claim.

Her first preparation was very consistent, beginning with an Ascot debut victory before four subsequent placings through late summer and early autumn.

Those efforts produced some strong form references, including two placings behind Searchin' Times and a close second to Urquharts Bluff, who has since won twice this winter in decent company.

Her August 3 Belmont trial win was also sharp, taking out the fastest 1000m heat of the morning ahead of three-time Saturday metropolitan winner Prospector's Pick, and with clear excuses for the fresh miss, So Si God is worth another chance.

Bisley Workwear Maiden Tips (Race 3)

Belmont Value Bet - Race 3 No. 14 Vaulting Spirit

This looks a wide-open maiden and the competitive early market reflects that, with Bubbles In Rio and Oscars No Grouch disputing favouritism despite having 27 starts between them without a win.

Newhaven Prince is another single-figure chance after showing promise first-up before disappointing last time, while debutant General Napoleon also commands respect with William Pike booked.

That leaves Vaulting Spirit as one worth considering at bigger odds, with the Neville Parnham-trained filly drawing barrier two and likely to settle close to the speed under Jade McNaught.

There has been enough to like about her trials, particularly the latest when blinkers were applied and she showed clear improvement after looking very green in her first 400m hit-out.

The three-year-old landed on speed and stuck on well before the first two swept past late, and with improvement evident from trial to trial, Vaulting Spirit could give a sight at a big price.

SGC Australia Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Centre Bond

Centre Bond has more ability than his record suggests and, despite now being a six-year-old, remains relatively lightly raced with further improvement still possible.

His first-up effort at Pinjarra on August 12 was a pass mark and, judging by his July 27 trial, he was always likely to need that fresh run.

The gelding has a strong second-up profile with a win and two runner-up finishes, while his only miss at this stage of a preparation came at Belmont last season in testing conditions and was still a respectable effort.

He has also been consistently effective at this circuit, finishing outside the placings only once, while his last two attempts over this distance have both come in stronger 60+ company and produced competitive performances.

One of those came at Ascot behind Asphalt, who then won his next two starts before placing behind the smart Cosmic Crusader, and with this Class 3 well within reach, Centre Bond can be supported on an each-way basis.
