Murray Bridge Tips September 2

Fred Vella Tyre & Crash Repair Maiden Plate Tips (Race 2)

Murray Bridge Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Blazing Red

Consistent form gives Blazing Red strong claims of finally breaking through, with the four-year-old having finished runner-up three times from eight starts.

Two of those seconds have come at Murray Bridge, including a narrow defeat over this track and trip two starts ago when he finished strongly from midfield on a Soft 5.

The form from that race has held up, with the third-placegetter winning subsequently, while Blazing Red then backed it up with another second at Strathalbyn.

He found only a strong-finishing rival too good on a Soft 7 there, with both the winner and third going on to place next time.

Barrier seven should not pose too many issues and, with wet-track form already established, the Hannah Bryce-trained gelding looks capable of recording his first win.

Murray Bridge Value Bet - Race 5 No. 9 Magic Island

There has been enough merit in two of Magic Island's three runs since joining the Richard and Chantelle Jolly stable to give her some appeal at a price.

Her only poor effort came over 1544m at Morphettville earlier this month, but she returned lame in both the off fore and off hind and that run can be forgiven.

The six-year-old is better judged on her earlier efforts, including a fifth over 1200m at this circuit after resuming with a third at Morphettville.

She was beaten a little over three-and-a-half lengths in that Murray Bridge Benchmark 0-56 and now finds a suitable Class 1 assignment.

Taylor Johnstone reunites with Magic Island after partnering her for the Morphettville placing, and the pair look capable of figuring at value.

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 7 No. 11 Turned Loose

A much-improved second at Strathalbyn last time suggests Turned Loose is finally coming to hand this preparation.

The six-year-old raced prominently from the inside draw over 1600m and finished three lengths from a front-running winner in a Benchmark 0-58 on a Soft 7.

While she handled the conditions well enough, any upgrade would be a positive given both career wins have come on Good ground.

The New Zealand-bred mare has also shown an affinity for Murray Bridge and the extra distance should not pose any issue given she has won over further.

Dropping in grade and with fitness on her side, Turned Loose looks capable of giving a sight at bigger odds.

Murray Bridge Best Bet - Race 9 No. 5 Garcon Renard

Garcon Renard has performed well at Murray Bridge in the past, including a 1200m victory here in November last year.

He has been unable to add another win since, but there has been merit in two of his three starts this preparation, both in metropolitan company.

The latest was a fourth over 1200m at Morphettville in July, where he was beaten just one-and-a-half lengths in a Benchmark 56 on a Soft 7.

Jason Holder was aboard from a double-figure draw that day and remains in the saddle, while the gelding has been freshened since.

A return to non-metropolitan company and a much kinder inside draw both look significant positives, and Garcon Renard is taken to record his first win over this distance.
