The Belmont race meeting on May 24 features nine races, with expert betting tips highlighting several key contenders. Notable selections include Exporose in Race 1 as a value bet due to consistent performance on wet tracks. Late Arrival, an unbeaten four-year-old this season, is predicted to impress in Race 3. Western Empire, the returning champion from last year's event, is a favorite for the Group 3 Belmont Sprint in Race 7, while Stormchaser is expected to perform well in Race 8 following a recent win. Tabtouch – Westspeed Platinum Handicap Tips (Race 1) 


Belmont Value Bet - Race 1 No. 8 Exporose

The daughter of Universal Ruller registered a good third-place finish over this course and distance in early March.

Exporose was beaten just over a length on that occasion and she went on to finish fifth in a 1200m Benchmark 44+ handicap at Ascot a week later.

The five-year-old has been in great form since then, with a win at Pinjarra Scarpside and two victories at York.

All three of those triumphs have come over 1200m, including on a wet track on her penultimate start and with that in mind, the rain forecast here shouldn’t pose an issue.

Jim Taylor’s mare came home a length clear of her six rivals in a Benchmark 52+ handicap last time out and she gets in off a nice racing weight here.

Jason Brown is set to ride for the first time this prep and his mount looks value in the opener.

Reliable Asset Maintenance Handicap Tips (Race 3)


Belmont Best Bet - Race 3 No. 3 Late Arrival

The gelding recorded some good efforts in Victoria and South Australia earlier this season, including when breaking his maiden at Geelong in August.

A switch of stable of Indianna Weinert and move to Western Australia has seen the four-year-old go unbeaten in three starts this prep.  

The first two of those came on wet tracks at Albany, including when taking out a Benchmark 58+ handicap over 1100m last month.

Late Arrival came home over a length clear of his rivals when racing on a Soft 5 track that day, with the second and seventh both winning in the interim.

The son of Pierro went on to defy a wide barrier when stepped back up to metro-level racing for a 1400m event at Ascot ten days later. 

The extra 200m here is no issue, having gone well over further in the past and jumping from an inside barrier, he looks up to recording his fourth consecutive win.

Swan Draught – Belmont Sprint (Group 3) Tips (Race 7)


Belmont Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Western Empire

Grant & Alana Williams’ representative is a ten-time winner, with one of those victories coming in this race twelve months ago.

The son of Iffraaj jumped from a wide barrier prior to getting home by a narrow margin on that occasion and he has been allocated a similar barrier this time around.

Western Empire has made just six appearances since last year’s triumph, including when ending 2024 with a Group 3 victory over this distance at Ascot in November.

The seven-year-old won by just under one-and-a-half-lengths when contesting the Gold Rush that day and he was spelled by connections following that effort.

While the selection has won firs- up in the past, he is expected to have improved for his ninth-place finish in The Kia Quokka over 1200m at Ascot last month. 

Regular rider William Pike is again set to ride here and with the winkers worn last time out now removed, Western Empire can register back-to-back wins in the Belmont Sprint.

Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Stormchaser 

The four-year-old has shown a liking for this venue in the past, registering two wins and two further top three finishes from his five starts here.

The most recent of those victories saw him record a win by over a length in a 1200m Benchmark 72+ handicap in July last year.

Stormchaser raced on a Soft 7 track that day and with that in mind, any softening of the current Good 4 surface would be no issue. 

While the pick triumphed on a wet surface that day, he is a versatile type with regard to the going (50% strike-rate on good going). 

The gelding has made just two subsequent appearances, most recently when making his first start since October when winning at Ascot earlier this month.

The son of Impending triumphed by just under half-a-length when again racing at Benchmark 72+ handicap level that day. 

Brayden Gaerth again takes two-kilogram’s off the gelding’s back and the pair are capable of following up.
