AFL Teams Round 9 2026: Pendlebury returns, Bombers swing axe, Hawks unveil debutant


Round 9 of the 2026 AFL season features several major selection calls, with Collingwood recalling Scott Pendlebury ahead of his record-equalling appearance, Essendon making six changes after another disappointing loss, and Hawthorn unveiling debutant Bodie Ryan for its blockbuster trip west.

Carlton has recalled George Hewett, Sydney loses Charlie Curnow to injury, while GWS has been smashed by four fresh injury blows including Jesse Hogan.

Thursday, May 7, 8:10pm at Optus Stadium

Fremantle: Judd McVee returns from illness, with Jeremy Sharp omitted for the Dockers’ blockbuster clash against Hawthorn.

Hawthorn: Bodie Ryan will debut, while Sam Butler and Max Ramsden also come in. Connor Dear is injured, while Jack Scrimshaw and Finn Maginness have been omitted.
