Australia vs Curacao Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

The Socceroos finish their brief FIFA Series campaign when they welcome Curacao to AAMI Park on Tuesday night.

Again, it wasn't the most inspiring performance we've seen, but Australia got the job done with a 1-0 victory over Cameroon on Friday night, with left wingback Jordy Bos popping up with a late winner. It was an absolutely dire opening half, but Nestory Irankunda helped provide some spark when he entered the action in the second half, while Ajdin Hrustic was also lively - despite missing a penalty.

Meanwhile, Curacao suffered a 2-0 defeat to China in the other match in Group 1 of the FIFA Series. The tiny island nation - that has a population of just 156,000 - made headlines after qualifying for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, becoming the second-smallest nation in history after Iceland to do so. For some more perspective, Australia has six times the amount of registered footballers than Curacao has people.

I think we know what to expect from the Socceroos now and Tony Popovic isn't going to change - as long as we keep getting slightly above-average results. Australia should be set for another clean sheet here - 2-0 or 3-0 seems like a good correct score option. Riley McGree has been on fire for Middlesbrough in the English Championship and is decent value to find the back of the net.
  • Five of Australia's last seven wins have been to nil
  • Curacao's last four defeats outside of their region have been to nil
  • Curacao have conceded exactly two goals in their last five defeats
  • Riley McGree has scored three goals in his last nine games for Middlesbrough

Australia vs Curacao Head To Head

This will be the first ever meeting between the two nations.

Australia Form Analysis

It wasn't a great performance by any means, but the Socceroos got the job done against Cameroon in Sydney last Friday night.

Once again, Australia looked slow, flat and devoid of any attacking creativity for the bulk of the contest as Tony Popovic set up with another 'not to lose' mentality, which is questionable stuff in a friendly that means nothing.

Nevertheless, the Socceroos dug out a lacklustre victory as star defender Jordy Bos scored in the 85th minute after some good lead-up work from substitute Paul Okon-Engstler.

Emerging defender Lucas Herrington enjoyed an encouraging debut, with the 18-year-old completing 60 of 64 attempted passes and making a couple of crucial clearances.

“It was the best feeling in the world to represent my country,” said Herrington, who only debuted in the A-League a year ago before making a move to Colorado Rapids in the MLS.
“I’m just grateful to everyone that gave me the opportunity to do so, who have been supporting me since I started playing football. So it’s for them, and I loved every minute of it."
“I was a fan of the team just a couple months ago when they were qualifying for the World Cup, so to be in and amongst the boys has been awesome. They’ve all been top, bringing me into the group, and I’ve loved every second of it.”

Australia Team News

It will be interesting to see who gets some game time for this clash.

Ante Suto might be a chance to earn a Socceroos debut after Deni Juric started against Cameroon.

Alexander Robertson has also got to be a chance for some minutes after he was an unused substitute on Friday.

Curacao Form Analysis

Curuaco completed a fairytale World Cup qualifying campaign to secure a spot at this year's showpiece for the first time in their history.

The Blue Wave went unbeaten across their 10 games in two preliminary rounds, only needing a 0-0 draw with Jamaica to stamp their ticket to this year's World Cup. Their reward is a place in Group E alongside Germany, Ecuador and Ivory Coast.

Fred Hutton's side are currently ranked No. 82 in the world and played their first match since that successful qualifying campaign last week, going down 2-0 to China.

The Caribbean side have now lost seven of their last 12 friendly matches.

Curacao Team News

Manchester United academy graduate Tahith Chong should be in line for a start after coming off the bench against China.

Captain Leandro Bacuna and his brother Juninho have both played in the English Premier League, while defender Cuco Martina has also spent time at Everton and Southampton.
