Mott returns to the saddle with a win at Sale

Jamie Mott made a successful return from a six month injury layoff on Tuesday, guiding popular elect Rock The Ring to a strong win at Sale.

The 32-year-old made a successful return on his first ride back following a horrific fall at Cranbourne on November 8 which required surgery and months of rehab.

Mott's hard work was instantly rewarded.

The popular hoop was straight back to his brilliant best, guiding the $4.40 favourite with Bet365 to a soft win down the outside after settling towards the back of the field.

Mott unleashed the Lindsey Park-trained colt to the middle of the track and the promising prospect did the rest, running away from the field to record a strong win ahead of race favourite Seguso and Mighty Murt.
Jamie Mott told RSN927 on Tuesday morning that he had been building nicely towards today's return.

"Each week has been better than the one before," Mott explained.

"I'm going to the races pretty confident the leg's pretty good ... (so) hopefully I can kick off my return with a winner."

Heading into his first ride back on Rock The Ring, Mott admitted Tuesday would be the first time riding the two-year-old, but was glowing his in appraisal of the son of Reward For Effort.

"I watched the first run, which was really good effort in a strong race so with face fitness on his side he'd have to be a nice chance today."
