The Gold Coast Titans and Canberra Raiders are set to clash in NRL Round 9 at Cbus Super Stadium. Both teams are looking to improve their rocky season starts. The Titans, led by coach Josh Hannay, need more consistent performances, struggling in home games. The Raiders, on a similar path of inconsistency, have a solid head-to-head winning streak against the Titans, securing eight consecutive games at Cbus. Expert predictions back the Raiders or a close scoreline either way. Key players to watch include Matt Timoko for the Raiders and Beau Fermor for the Titans.

Gold Coast Titans vs Canberra Raiders NRL Round 9 Tips & Prediction

Both the Titans and Raiders will be hoping to kickstart their stumbling respective starts to the season when they kick off Super Saturday action at Cbus Super Stadium.

Neither of these teams are inspiring any sort of confidence after eight rounds. The Titans have managed just two wins for the season and they came over the lowly Dragons and Eels. Gold Coast have also won just four of their last 13 at home and need to aim up if they are to deliver new coach Josh Hannay finals football in his debut season.

Meanwhile, the Raiders aren't travelling much better - after claiming last year's minor premiership, the Green Machine are languishing in 14th spot on the ladder with just three wins. However, one of those victories did come not too long ago against the high-flying Rabbitohs, while they've won eight straight at Cbus and six in a row over the Titans.

Given Canberra's recent history of playing close matches over the last few years (& recent tight encounters with Gold Coast) and strong record against the Titans - but also taking their current unreliability in 2026 into the equation, my best bets for this clash are either team 1-12 and the Raiders H2H.

Matt Timoko looks amazing value at $3.30 to cross for a try given his record against the Titans, while narrative bet followers can jump on Beau Fermor for the 1st, 2nd or 3rd try, with the Gold Coast second-rower playing his 100th NRL game.

  • Raiders have won the last six meetings between the teams
  • Raiders have won their last eight games at Cbus
  • Titans have won just four of their last 13 home games
  • Five of the last six meetings have been decided by a 1-12 margin
  • Raiders have seen a 1-12 margin in four of their last six games
  • Titans have seen a 1-12 margin in three of their last six games (two misses by 14 points)
  • Matt Timoko has scored a try in his last two games & has six tries in six games vs Titans
  • Beau Fermor scored a try vs Raiders last year & is playing his 100th NRL game

Titans vs Raiders Head To Head

As mentioned, Canberra have dominated this fixture in recent times, winning the last six meetings - including 30-20 and 40-24 victories in 2025.

Gold Coast Titans Form Analysis

Really just more of the same for the Titans - they look decent in patches, but they just aren't close to top eight standard and have zero consistency.

Gold Coast have worked their way into 2026 with two wins from their last four games, but they were against the Dragons and Eels, so going to need to see more.

The Titans gave up a 22-0 half-time deficit to the Warriors in their last outing - they did well to come back in the second half to score 20 points, but they left themselves with too big a mountain to climb, going down 28-20.

Jayden Campbell and AJ Brimson remain the key to unlocking a Titans attack that is averaging just 21 points per game. Arama Hau continues to impress in the backrow.

Canberra Raiders Form Analysis

Obviously a disappointing start to the season for the Raiders after the high of last year's minor premiership.

I always thought their luck would start to even out and Canberra find themselves languishing in 14th spot on the ladder with a 3-5 record and averaging just 19 points per game, missing Jamal Fogarty's leadership and kicking game in the halves.

After back-to-back wins over Souths and Melbourne, it appeared as if the Green Machine were starting to build some momentum.

However, Ricky Stuart's side were blown off the park by the Tigers last week, going down 33-14 at Leichhardt.

Gold Coast Titans vs Canberra Raiders Team News

AJ Brimson returns to the centres for Gold Coast, pushing Jaylen de Groot to the interchange, while Chris Randall is also back at lock, with Cooper Bai going to the pine.

Big blow for Canberra as rising second-rower Noah Martin is out for an extended period following surgery on both ankles. Zac Hosking is also out with concussion, but Simi Sasagi makes a timely return from a hamstring problem to slot into the back row. Chevy Stewart is the new man on the bench.

Verdict

Another close game between these sides expected, with Canberra's recent H2H record giving them the edge. Timoko and Fermor backed for tries.
