Rosehill Favourite - Race 6 No. 3 Tavros

Tavros maps a little awkwardly from a wide draw and there is still a small query at 2000m, which remains a box yet to be fully ticked.

The gelding nevertheless brings the standout exposed form into the Country Classic, highlighted by an eye-catching fifth in the Little Dance last start.

That Randwick run included the fastest final 200m of the entire November 4 meeting, which reflects a horse going particularly well deep into a spaced campaign.

Earlier wins to open the prep were followed by a strong Moree Cup victory and then a runner-up effort in the Dubbo Gold Cup behind Cristal Clear.

Cristal Clear franked that form when finishing second in a BM88 and then performing credibly in both the Golden Eagle and Big Dance, which only boosts confidence in Tavros.

Toyota Forklifts Starlight Stakes Tips (Race 7)

Rosehill Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Zealously

Zealously broke the 1000m track record at Warwick Farm first-up when leading throughout in a sharp return.

The gelding was then thrown into the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint where he proved the best of the on-speed brigade in a race dominated by late closers.

Rey Magnerio, who won that race, was luckless next start and now contests Saturday’s Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes, while runner-up Geegees Mistruth was Group 3 placed shortly afterwards.

Track downgrades forced his scratching at Kembla Grange last week, but firmer ground should be available this time around.

He also gets 6kg less than Front Page, who is the other main on-speed influence aside from Ouroboros, who draws out.

Gitani Stone Festival Stakes Tips (Race 8)

Rosehill Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Yorkshire

Yorkshire was ultra-consistent across his first two campaigns, returning six wins and two placings from eight starts.

The gelding looked too bad to be true when failing in The Hunter first-up after being well backed in early markets.

Cardiac arrhythmia was detected post-race, which offers a clear excuse for that Newcastle miss and suggests the performance was an outlier.

A low draw and a slightly thinner race overall give him the right set-up to rebound sharply if the first-up failure is forgiven.

He still has to prove himself outside benchmark grade, but previous efforts indicate he deserves another chance second-up.

ATC Cup Tips (Race 9)

Rosehill Best Bet - Race 9 No. 14 Shangri La Spring

Connections understandably rolled the dice at the $10 million Golden Eagle, but nothing was expected at 200/1 and the entire endured a tough run throughout.

A sharp tick-over trial win on November 21 was encouraging and followed two honest early-prep runs where he lacked a turn-of-foot over shorter trips.

The rise to 2000m now looks ideal fourth-up, especially with a low draw helping him find a prominent position.

He drops to the 53kg minimum, which enhances his prospects against a field of mostly well exposed opposition.

With anticipated on-speed favours at this trip, the entire could prove hard to run down.

Captivant @ Kia Ora Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Rosehill Roughie - Race 10 No. 13 Hyperbolic

Connections have opted against a BM72 option at Canterbury on Friday night, and this BM78 against her own sex shapes as a suitable second-up assignment.

The race has opened right up following the scratching of Frosty Girl, who was set to start an odds-on favourite and would have dominated the market.

Her return was better than it reads, with Hyperbolic settling back in an on-speed-dominated race, and the mare worked home fairly well without threatening.

That was only the second time she has finished outside the top four in 11 starts, while her sole victory last campaign was recorded over this distance.

She draws kinder here and represents an in-form Brad Widdup yard, with the stable operating at five winners from its last 15 starters.
