Murray Bridge Tips August 2

Cox Electrical Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Murray Bridge Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 3 Showrunner

Travis Doudle is an astute trainer and he often manages a long prep well with these middle-distance/staying types, with Showrunner better placed up in distance on Saturday.

The gelding hasn't done much wrong in 10 starts to date, with his biggest miss coming at start two for the new yard when contesting a 2000m three-year-old handicap at Flemington.

He was a month between runs after pushing a handy Stirrup Cup, while Showrunner covered ground via his latest attempt in a race taken out by Sav On Ice, who absolutely bolted in last Saturday.

National Jockeys Celebration Day Tips (Race 6)

Murray Bridge Best Bet - Race 6 No. 4 Cash

This Michael Hickmott-trained youngster is a lovely type and he's got the breeding to back up the looks, with the son of Snitzel being the second foal out of Super Cash (three-time Group 2 winner).

Cash was a $1.1 million yearling (his full sister was sold for $1.2 million this year) and while he was raw, ability was evident when saluting at Moonee Valley on debut before being tipped out.

He's been given time to furnish since that November 15 breakthrough (fair trial last month) and with the middle/wider lanes likely to suit Cash on this big circuit, he does look well placed fresh in a weak race.

Murray Bridge Septic Solutions Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 7 No. 4 Lift The Bar

She's still lightly raced for a seven-year-old and Lift The Bar has been mostly consistent in nine runs since joining the Sarah Rutten stable, with all three victories recorded for the new yard.

The daughter of Scissor Kick can produce a big finish, which we saw via her Mildura resumption last month when running the fastest last 200m of a BM64 that's produced two recent winners.

Lift The Bar shouldn't be flat of that return effort, with the mare a second-up winner last campaign before recording a fourth-place finish in a similar event to what she contests here vs her own sex.

Golden Grove Tavern Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Murray Bridge Value Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Belthil

While he had very little wet track form from seven prior runs on soft and heavy ground, Belthil was respected in the market first-up at Bendigo and he was hard to miss late via that 1300m BM64.

He wasn't quick to begin and as a result, the six-year-old was forced back to the rear from barrier nine, but he was the pick of the closers (race-fastest last 800m/600m/400m and 200m).

That Bendigo form was franked on Wednesday when Rip 'N' Rip won at Sandown, while with firmer ground, less weight and a softer map all being positives, this sets up better for Belthil.
