Ipswich Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 6 Villandry

The gelding showed ability when in the care of Anthony & Sam Freedman, with a pair of top three finishes from five starts.

Those placings included a close second when runner-up over 1300m at Bendigo in December.

Villandry raced on good ground that day and encountered similar conditions when stepped up to 1500m at Mornington subsequently.

The three-year-old was beaten just one-and-a-half-lengths that day and he joined current trainer Krystle Johnston following a $15,000 sale in February.

While he suffered a heavy defeat in a barrier trial subsequently, Villandry performed well when racing from the front over 1100m at Rockhampton via his Queensland debut.

The youngster raced from the front having overcome an awkward start last time out and similar tactics are expected from barrier nine.

Ipswich Value Bet - Race 5 No. 10 Tipsy Tiger

The daughter of Jungle Cat broke her maiden on a wet track here when debuting over 800m in August last year.

While unable to salute since, the filly has registered placed efforts in two of her three starts this prep.

The first of those placings saw her beaten four lengths into third when contesting an 800m Class 1 event in March.

While unable to build on that when fifth-of-six at Rockhampton next time, Tipsy Tiger delivered a respectable effort when beaten just over two-and-a-half-lengths over this distance.

She was easy in the market via her first start for seven weeks that day and she took a step forward at Gatton subsequently.

That step forward saw the filly lose out by less than half-a-length when runner-up in a Benchmark 0-60 handicap and she has the early speed to cross.

Ray White Ipswich Benchmark 62 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Ipswich Best Bet – Race 7 No. 11 Wittelsbach

Trained by Annabel & Rob Archibald, Wittelsbach broke through for her first win when successful by a narrow margin at Scone three starts back.

The filly won by a narrow margin when racing over 2200m in a Class 1 & Maiden Plate contest held on a Soft 5 track that day.

She went on to finish sixth-of-eighth at Wyong and form that is working out well. as first and fourth home that day both went on to salute next time.

Wittelsbach delivered a good third over 2180m when racing on a Heavy 8 track here just over two weeks ago.

The only runner from that contest to race since went on to score here a week ago, while the three-year-old having the distance and underfoot conditions to suit here.

The daughter of Dundeel remains open to improvement and she is taken to double her career tally.

Red Bull Australia Benchmark 65 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Ipswich Roughie - Race 8 No. 12 Half Crown

While you have to go back to May last year to find the six-year-old’s most recent success, he has made just five starts since then.

That May triumph saw him get home by a narrow margin when contesting a 1500m Benchmark 70 handicap held on good going at Warwick.

The softer ground expected here is no issue, with his other three wins all coming on wet surfaces.

The son of Foxwedge was spelled following a ninth-of-ten when beaten just over five lengths at Eagle Farm in November.

Half Crown trialled at Sunshine Coast in March prior to resuming in a Benchmark 65 handicap at the same venue the following month.

Dropping back to 1200m, Half Crown was beaten just over a length into third when racing on a Soft 5 track and he has been freshened since that April 20 run.
