Geelong Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 5 Ginger 'N' Pink

Tipped out after an eye-catching debut second in a handy Sale maiden back in Feb, this Peter Moody-trained filly was well supported via her Caulfield resumption on June 24.

Although the 1000m was a little too sharp irrespective, Ginger 'N' Pink was back and did race keenly in a slowly run affair, so she did well under the circumstances to make late ground.

She has the advantage of race experience over many key rivals and the three-year-old has shown some tactical speed in her jump-outs, so gate two can be used over the 1200m.

Wet Area Solutions Maiden Plate Tipsw (Race 4)

In a 1400m maiden with very little depth, the market has this spot on with Royalz and Okay Cupid at the head of betting currently, with both runners bringing fair exposed form.

Having shown more over five NZ runs as opposed to the Waterhouse & Bott runner who has been double-figure odds in all starts, I suspect Royalz is the more talented of the two.

Freshened up since a decent Aus debut in May, this filly was sharper in a subsequent jump-out where the winkers were applied and that gear change is in effect for race day.

Geelong Value Bet - Race 6 No. 8 Ellenmac

Versus rivals with mainly BM58 and BM64 references, this mare brings easily the best-exposed form among these runners, with Ellenmac coming down from Sydney.

Third-up, the daughter of Maurice was a little outclassed via a Rosehill BM78 taken out by Semana, although she wasn't disgraced and her two BM72 efforts before that were sound.

With now a Pakenham base to compliment his Sydney operation, it allows Matthew Smith to place these lower-rated runners to perfection and that looks to be the case here.

Geelong Roughie - Race 7 No. 1 Bond Street Beau

With 63kg and a wide draw fresh over the Bendigo 1500m, that was effectively a barrier trial for Bondi Street Beau, who was eased back before rattling home late.

A very honest competitor that won four on the trot last spring, he will improve again from this second-up outing, albeit the step to 1700m does bring him into calculations.

There does seem to be more intent with the Luke Campbell engagement, which sees him carry 2kg less from that last run and he is capable of settling much handier to the speed.
