The Gibson Maiden Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Eagle Farm Favourite - Race 1 No. 4 Dust Cloud

He heads into this race on the back of a career-best second when racing over the road at Doomben.

Racing on a Soft 7 surface, the gelding was beaten just under two-and-a-half lengths after settling off the pace.

The pick returned to sprinting that day after previously finishing fourth over 1609m at Ipswich, while the fourth horse home at Doomben has since gone on to finish one place better at the same venue.

The gelding showed good speed from the barriers last time, so gate nine shouldn't pose too much of an issue.

Ben Thompson retains the ride, and with the blinkers kept on after being applied for the first time at Doomben, Dust Cloud is taken to break through at the fifth attempt.

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Sosino

The gelding has been in excellent form since switching his attention to Queensland, winning both starts in the state.

The first of those came over 1630m at Doomben in May, where he defeated 10 rivals by four-and-a-half lengths on a Soft 7.

That Benchmark 70 victory has since been franked, with two runners winning at their next starts.

Sosino backed up that performance with another impressive win at Ipswich 11 days ago after racing on the speed.

A track downgrade poses no concern for the Annabel & Rob Archibald-trained gelding, and from barrier five he looks capable of completing the hat-trick.

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 4 Moonan Quartz

His last preparation ended with two solid efforts in defeat at Doomben.

Both of those runs came in Class 1 company, including a third over 1350m in December when beaten just under three lengths on a Soft 5.

The four-year-old had two trial appearances before resuming in a Benchmark 58 at the Sunshine Coast last month.

He returned with an impressive two-and-a-half-length victory, with the Soft 7 conditions appearing to suit.

Similar underfoot conditions are expected here, and with Bella Youngberry again claiming 3kg from an inside draw, Moonan Quartz looks ready to make a successful return to metropolitan company.

XXXX Gold Benchmark 70 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 7 No. 2 Arisphere

While yet to win on a wet track, the daughter of Exosphere has produced several strong performances on Soft ground.

Those efforts include a runner-up finish in a Benchmark 68 at the Sunshine Coast at her second start this preparation.

Racing on a Soft 5 over 1000m, she performed well from midfield after jumping from a wide barrier.

She then made use of an inside draw to race on the speed before finishing runner-up by less than a length at the Gold Coast in Class 6 company.

Leah Martyn's 3kg claim is another positive, and from another favourable draw Arisphere looks value to record her third Eagle Farm victory and her first on rain-affected ground.
