Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Chicago King

Chicago King has been consistent without winning, with nine runs under his belt since debuting with a Ballarat third last August.

Now with Michael Freedman, he has produced two solid efforts at Ipswich this prep, including a fourth over 1200m first-up.

He lifted again when narrowly beaten over 1350m at the same venue earlier this month, showing he is edging closer.

Those runs came on good tracks, but a softer surface should not worry him, with trial form on wet ground last season.

Blinkers come off in favour of a visor here, and with added fitness he looks ready to break through.

Eagle Farm Roughie - Race 5 No. 9 Kaffir Lily

Kaffir Lily is capable fresh, having won a 1400m Scone maiden when resuming in January.

She followed up with a fourth in a Rosehill Benchmark 72 over 1500m before testing herself at Group 3 level.

The daughter of Kermadec held her own in those tougher assignments, with her best being an eighth in the Kembla Grange Classic.

Transferred to Stuart Kendrick, she trialled recently at the Sunshine Coast and will wear a cross-over nose band for the first time.

Back in trip against easier opposition, she appeals as a knockout hope at odds.

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 6 No. 8 Immediate

Immediate showed promise in maiden company at this track earlier in the prep, including a close placing at 1000m on a Soft 5.

She then relished better ground when bolting in by more than three lengths at Ipswich over 1100m.

Dropping back to 1000m here from barrier seven should not cause issues, particularly with her racing style.

Tony Gollan’s filly handles all surfaces and carries a light weight again.

With her confidence high, she is expected to run boldly in search of back-to-back wins.

U&U Recruitment Class 2 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Chamierro

Chamierro closed last prep with a strong third in a 1500m Eagle Farm open handicap last November.

He resumed over 1110m at Doomben, a trip short of his best, before improving sharply when fifth over 1200m second-up.

That run set him up nicely for Ipswich, where he broke through over 1350m in a Class 1.

The Pierro gelding now rises slightly in distance, a move that should suit given his proven stamina.

With winning confidence and a record on both good and wet tracks, he is the standout bet of the day.
