Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Carnegie Hill
A Beaudesert victory two starts ago saw Carnegie Hill double his career tally when justifying favouritism in a Class 2 Handicap over 1650m on a wet track.
The five-year-old scored by a narrow margin before meeting with interference when finishing sixth at the Gold Coast subsequently.
Although only sixth in that Benchmark 62 event, he produced a highly creditable performance when beaten less than a length after looking the likely winner until being overhauled late.
Dropping back in distance is in his favour, while barrier seven should pose no issue and any track downgrade would be a positive after his two latest runs came on Soft 7 surfaces.
Michael Freedman enjoyed a strong season at Doomben last term, and Carnegie Hill is selected to provide the stable with another winner at the venue.

Doomben Best Bet - Race 5 No. 8 Sarah’s Sonnets
Improvement throughout the preparation culminated in Sarah’s Sonnets breaking through for her first victory at the Gold Coast last time.
The rise to 2233m appeared to suit, with the mare overcoming an awkward start to score on a Soft 5 surface.
That success followed a narrow defeat in a similar event over 1800m at the same venue, and the drop to 2060m should pose no concern.
Mark Du Plessis’ mount receives a suitable racing weight, while barrier eight should not create any issues over this distance.
Tony and Maddysen Sears’ representative remains open to further improvement and can complete a double on her first appearance at Doomben.

Both appearances this preparation have confirmed Katie Aine’s liking for Soft ground, beginning with a maiden victory at the Sunshine Coast in June.
The daughter of Dracarys raced prominently over 1000m and overcame issues leaving the barriers to score by just under a length in the small-field event.
Similar tactics were used when she returned to the same venue over 1200m last month for her first appearance at Class 1 level.
Although unable to complete a double, the mare performed well in finishing second when beaten less than two lengths.
Barrier five should allow Katie Aine to secure another favourable position, and the Chris and Corey Munce-trained runner can record the second victory of her career.
Ladbrokes Odds Surge Class 3 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Doomben Favourite - Race 8 No. 8 Land Bank
Two victories last season included a dominant success over this distance at Ipswich in January, where Land Bank defeated his 13 rivals by more than three lengths.
A wide barrier counted against him over this course and distance subsequently, although he still performed with credit when sixth in a Benchmark 70 and beaten less than two lengths.
Both efforts came on Good ground, but the son of Territories has also placed second twice on Soft going despite remaining without a wet-track victory.
The gelding races second-up after finishing third-of-six at Ipswich last month and should derive a fitness benefit from that return.
Tony Gollan’s representative draws an inside barrier and, with the rise in distance another positive, he ticks plenty of boxes in the last.
