Belmont Value Bet - Race 4 No. 12 Two Time Charlie
Clint Johnston-Porter will be hoping for better luck this time aboard Two Time Charlie, who was back and held up for the majority of the straight at Belmont on June 20, where he stepped straight to a mile from 1200m.
That's never a straightforward progression, and while the race was over once he got clear, he still rattled home with the fastest closing sectionals of that 60+ event, a performance that suggested another look at the mile was warranted.
He was never in contention second-up when back in an on-speed dominated race, but the campaign opened with an eye-catching Pinjarra victory after coming from the rear in a slowly run affair and recording the fastest closing sectionals of that May 21 program.
His second preparation opened with a stylish performance in January to defeat Watto's Mark, a handy sprinter who won two of his next three starts in Saturday metropolitan company.
The main query here is the rain-affected ground.
Happy 60th Birthday Tim Helfer Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Belmont Roughie - Race 5 No. 7 Daytona Pete
Still looking to find his best, Daytona Pete remains lightly raced for a rising five-year-old.
He looked a really nice sprinter in the making as an early three-year-old, which included two wins, the latest a smart Ascot triumph.
The gelding didn't go on with it in three runs over the autumn of last year and was then off the scene before resuming on April 1, where he finished at Ascot before another competitive effort in a Class 3.
He just held his ground on June 20 , a performance he'll strip fitter from, while there was also money for him at a big price after winning the fastest 1000m trial of the June 8 set at Belmont.
On paper, this is one of the weakest races he's contested for some time, with 1300m well worth a try for the big son of Gingerbread Man, who is a big each-way quote in an open race.
Swan Draught - Aquanita Stakes Tips (Race 6)
Belmont Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Westbound
Owner-breeder Bob Peters has a strong record in this race, including last year's winner Arcadia Park, who was also trained by Michael Grantham and ridden by Clint Johnston-Porter.
That trio combines again with Westbound, who's a deserving favourite for the 2026 Aquanita Stakes after a brave performance in a fast-run Belmont Guineas, where he covered ground and stuck on for seventh of 16.
That followed a good chasing effort in the Raconteur Stakes after a freshen-up, with the gelding dropping back in trip after saluting over 1800m at Ascot on May 9.
The platform is there to step back up in distance, having beaten some of his main rivals in the Belmont Guineas despite that tough run.
Westbound is the one to beat, while Artistry In Motion could be the knockout runner at 2000m after enduring little luck last start and building nicely earlier in the preparation.
Belmont Oaks Tips (Race 7)
Belmont Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Like Clockwork
The most talented filly in the 2026 Belmont Oaks field is Like Clockwork.
The only question is whether the 2000m will test the daughter of Extreme Choice.
The Belmont Guineas fourth was a messy watch after she was badly held up at a key stage in the straight when an inside run briefly presented itself.
Things haven't quite gone to plan since her brilliant return victory in May over 1200m, having also displayed a lovely turn of foot when successful on debut earlier in the season over five furlongs.
Breeding suggests this trip will test her, but ability often gets the best horses home in these fillies races, while Savienne could be the out-and-out stayer to include in exotics after a good return at Belmont, and she should relish getting to 2000m second-up.
