The upcoming Ascot race meeting on October 18 is set to feature ten races, including the prestigious Group 3 Eurythmic Stakes and the Listed R.S. Crawford Stakes. Noteworthy entries for punters include 'Split The Gee' in Race 3, who is backed as another promising contender after recent promising performances, and 'Pure Excess' in Race 4, expected to excel in her return. Additionally, 'Be Bardot' in the final race showcases excellent each-way value post her impressive first-up victory. Consider 'Costazita' in Race 7 for a potential upset.

Ascot Tips October 18

Glenroy Chaff Plate Tips (Race 3)

Ascot Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 2 Split The Gee

Split The Gee landed her second career win on September 27, and that performance was full of merit given the saddle slipped in running and she laid in late but still found enough to prevail.

Her earlier runs this prep were encouraging, finishing close up despite still doing a few things wrong and showing signs she had more to offer. She’s backing up from last Saturday when flashing home late in a much deeper affair, confirming she’s racing in great heart.

This looks a more suitable assignment dropping back to a set weights three-year-old event, and the low barrier is a clear plus for a filly who can settle closer with cover.

She’s building a strong base of fitness now and the stable has her ticking over beautifully. Provided she gets a clean run in transit, there’s no reason she can’t go on with it again.

Only needs to hold form to be hard to beat in this company.

National Thoroughbred Week 20–24 Nov Tips (Race 4)

Ascot Best Bet - Race 4 No. 11 Pure Excess

Pure Excess resumes and looks well placed to make a winning return. The filly showed nice promise through her first campaign, and connections have opted to resume here rather than take an easier option at Northam on Thursday.

She’s not a 1000m horse, but both early efforts over that shorter trip showed talent, suggesting she’s capable of progressing sharply now with more maturity and race experience.

Her lead-up trial was strong, indicating she’s forward enough to be competitive first-up, and the 1200m distance looks an ideal starting point for her return.

Lucy Fiore takes the ride, and her current form adds further confidence that the filly will be given every chance to settle and build into her work.

With a kind draw and improvement expected from her debut prep, Pure Excess appeals as one of the standout winning chances on the card.

Project Building Supplies Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Ascot Roughie - Race 7 No. 9 Costazita

Costazita has been racing better than his recent results suggest and looks a genuine knockout chance if he gets the right run. He’s been going around at big odds via his last few starts, but excuses have been there each time.

His only real failures this year came on a heavy track in June and over 1400m after a freshen — a trip that clearly stretches him. Two starts back at Belmont, he was found to have his tongue back during the run, prompting the addition of a tongue-tie before last weekend’s effort.

He was again back and held up last Saturday in a race that never set up for those settling off the speed, but he wasn’t disgraced and continues to tick over well. The drop in weight and class brings him back into a more suitable scenario.

Fitness is a key advantage for him at this stage of the prep, and a smoother run in transit could make all the difference. He’s fit, genuine, and drawn to get every chance.

At each-way odds, Costazita can give supporters a sight in an open race if tempo and luck fall his way.

JP Equity Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Ascot Value Bet - Race 10 No. 4 Be Bardot

Be Bardot shapes as a good each-way play to close the program following her stylish first-up win at Belmont. She sprinted quickly to put the race away and that return suggested she’s come back better than ever.

She’s now built a tidy record of four wins and two placings from ten starts, and for a lightly raced five-year-old, she continues to hold plenty of upside. Her maiden win came second-up last spring, so this looks a suitable stage of the prep to go on with it.

There’s not a lot of genuine speed in this race, which brings her turn-of-foot into play as a key asset, and from a wide draw she has the tactical options to settle closer if required.

Her recent work indicates she’s holding condition nicely, and the stable continues to enjoy a good run of results. This shapes as another winnable race with conditions to suit.

With even luck, Be Bardot looks well placed to finish in the money again and can go close to making it two from two this campaign.
