As Geelong Cats prepare to face Port Adelaide Power in Round 21, all indicators suggest a lopsided contest favoring Geelong. Fresh from a triumphant win against North Melbourne, the Cats boast formidable form with key players like Jeremy Cameron delivering impressive performances. Meanwhile, Port Adelaide struggles with form and injuries, having lost four out of their last six. Geelong's scoring prowess, demonstrated by consistent high scores, stands in stark contrast to Port Adelaide's recent scoring woes, suggesting another convincing win for the Cats.

Geelong will pile on the goals against Port Adelaide in what shapes as another late season mismatch.

The Cats are fresh off a 101-point win over North Melbourne last weekend and sit in 4th spot on the ladder with a 13-6 win-loss record.

On the same night, Port Adelaide were on the receiving end of a demolition, going down to Adelaide by 98.

This all points to a similar scoreline, givenGeelong are in ruthless scoring form — putting up over 100 points in eight of their last eleven games. Port, meanwhile, are stumbling to the finish line, losing four of their past six and struggling to hit the scoreboard, booting just 12 goals in the past two rounds.

Geelong’s last two wins over Port have been by 84 and 74 points. Expect them to dominate again. Jeremy Cameron is in outrageous form, coming off 11 goals last week, while Bailey Smith continues to pile up disposals. With Geelong pushing for a home final, don’t expect them to take the foot off the gas.

  • Geelong’s last two wins over Port have been by 84 and 74 points
  • Jeremy Cameron has kicked 49 goals in his past 10 matches
  • Bailey Smith has had 30+ disposals in seven of his past 10.
  • The Cats have kicked over 100 points in eight of their past 11 matches

Head to Head

Geelong have won the past two matches between the two sides by big margins. They were an 84-point victory in the Qualifying Final last season as well as a 74-point win in Round 10 this season. Both of those were at the Adelaide Oval. The Power were six-point winners at GMHBA Stadium in Round 9 last year.

Jeremy Cameron kicked seven goals the last time the two sides met and has 14 from his past four against Port Adelaide. Ollie Wines has averaged 25 disposals for the Power from his past four matches against Geelong.

Geelong Cats Team News

Patrick Dangerfield was subbed out in the North Melbourne match and it will be interesting to see if the Cats rest players with finals approaching. Cam Guthrie, Tom Stewart and Mitch Duncan are among those on the sidelines. Guthrie should just about be ready. George Stevens had a huge game in the VFL last weekend and will be considered.
