Elina Svitolina vs Qinwen Zheng WTA Beijing Tips, Prediction & Live Stream
Over 21.5 total games is the best bet for this China Open quarter-final showdown between Elina Svitolina and Qinwen Zheng, with the home hope a good value play to prevail in three sets.
This will be the first career meeting between the pair and it's shaping as a cracking contest.
Svitolina remains ultra consistent and so tough to beat, while Zheng is back to some of her best tennis following elbow surgery and will be hoping to put on a show once more in front of her home fans.
Zheng has gone the distance in all four of her China Open matches this tournament, while 14 of her 22 tour-level victories this season have come in three sets.
That's a sustained pattern over a long period of time and I'm liking the Overs again here.
Svitolina has also gone over this total in six of her last eight matches and although she demolished Ann Li in the R16, she hasn't been at the peak of her powers since an injury in Cincinnati.
I just think this will be a big battle and follow the same script as Zheng's previous matches here in Beijing. As the underdog playing at home, it's Zheng that offers the value in another marathon.

Elina Svitolina Form Analysis
- 2026 WTA Record: 48-17
- WTA Beijing Record: 14-7
- Current Ranking: No. 7
- Career-High Ranking: No. 3 (2017)
It's been another outstanding season for Svitolina, who has now recorded her most match wins in a single campaign since 2017 – the year she reached her career-high ranking of World No. 3.
The bulk of Svitolina's success in 2026 came during an excellent first half of the season. She captured titles in Rome and Auckland, finished runner-up in Dubai and reached the semi-finals at the Australian Open, Indian Wells and Stuttgart.
The second half of the year hasn't been quite as productive. Svitolina suffered a first-round exit at Wimbledon before an ankle injury forced her to withdraw from Cincinnati, with that disrupted preparation perhaps contributing to her third-round US Open defeat to Anna Kalinskaya.
Svitolina then suffered a shock loss to World No. 217 Greet Minnen in the Billie Jean King Cup, but she has returned to winning ways in Beijing.
The Ukrainian recovered from a slow start to defeat Katerina Siniakova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 before backing it up with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Maria Sakkari and 6-2 6-3 triumph over Ann Li to reach her 29th WTA 1000 quarter-final.
Qinwen Zheng Form Analysis
- 2026 WTA Record: 22-13
- WTA Beijing Record: 9-3
- Current Ranking: No. 54
- Career-High Ranking: No. 4 (2025)
It's taken some time following elbow surgery, but Zheng is beginning to rediscover the level of tennis that took her to the Australian Open final and a career-high ranking of World No. 4 last year.
Zheng heads into this clash having won 11 of her past 13 matches across all levels. That run included successfully qualifying for the US Open and recording impressive victories over Madison Keys and Iga Swiatek before eventually falling in three sets to eventual champion Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals.
The 23-year-old reached the Beijing semi-finals in 2024 and will be hoping to at least replicate that finish here. It hasn't been straightforward so far, with Zheng requiring a deciding set in each of her opening four matches. She edged Han Shi 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-2 before getting past Anna Kalinskaya 6-7(4), 6-4, 3-0 (RET), Marie Bouzkova 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-5 and Alina Charaeva 6-1 2-6 6-4.
Those four matches have seen Zheng spend around 10 hours on court, but her serve and power from the baseline continue to work well. She has hit more winners than any player at this year's China Open, while Zheng has registered 285 aces for the year - the fourth-most on tour.
