The Wanderers come into this showdown on the back of a nine-game unbeaten streak, while City have won five of their last six outings and currently occupy second spot on the ladder.
It's an extremely tough game to call - as 50-50 as they come and it's reflected in the odds. I'm going to take a punt and back the Wanderers to secure all three points at home. City struggled to put away rock-bottom Brisbane Roar at home last week, ultimately prevailing 3-2, while the Wanderers toppled another in-form team in Western United 2-0 at this venue. Going off those performances, Western Sydney are in slightly superior form and they look a decent bet at home here.
- Wanderers are unbeaten in their last nine games
- Wanderers have won their last four home games
- City have won just two of their last eight away games
- Wanderers have seen BTTS in six of their last eight games
Head To Head
The Wanderers won the only previous meeting between the teams this season, coming away with a 2-0 triumph back in Round 6.
Western Sydney Wanderers Form
The Wanderers head into this contest on a nine-game unbeaten streak, winning five of their last seven to sit in fourth spot on the ladder.
Currently six points ahead of seventh-placed Adelaide United, you'd think the Wanderers are almost assured of featuring in finals football.
However, the Wanderers will have their eye on the top two, especially if they can defeat second-placed City in this encounter.
After back-to-back draws across the ditch against Wellington and Auckland, the Wanderers returned to the winners circle last week with a 2-0 dispatch of Western United, with Alex Gersbach scoring his first ever A-League goal before an own goal from Matt Sutton in the second half.
Western Sydney Wanderers Team News
No fresh injury concerns for the Wanderers.
Melbourne City Form
City were hit hard by injuries during the middle stage of the season, but they've come out the other end and are now targeting a top two finish.
The minor premiership isn't out of the question either, with Auckland only four points ahead of City at the top of the table and set to meet Melbourne Victory earlier on Saturday.
Aurelio Vidmar's side have won five of their last six matches heading into this clash, including three straight over Sydney FC (3-2), Central Coast Mariners (1-0) and Brisbane Roar (3-2).
Melbourne City Team News
Still some big names sidelined for City, including James Jeggo, Samuel Souprayen and Andrew Nabbout.
Verdict
Coin toss of a game, but I'm going to back the Wanderers - they prevailed in the only previous meeting between the teams this season and have won four straight at CommBank, while City only have two wins from their last eight on the road.
