England vs Ghana World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

England and Ghana can confirm their spot in the World Cup knockout phase when they square off in Group L action at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday.

These two teams picked up three points in very contrasting fashions in their respective opening games. England were impressive and produced some entertaining football to dispatch Croatia 4-2, while Ghana were lacklustre and needed a 94th-minute winner in order to edge past Panama 1-0.

There's a clear gulf in class here and I'm backing England to win this game with a clean sheet. Ghana were in poor form leading up to the World Cup and that performance against Panama did nothing to ease those concerns.

England meanwhile were in blistering touch in attack, registering a national team World Cup record 20 shots inside the penalty box against the Croatians, which also snapped a nine-game winless run vs top 15 nations at the World Cup.

Harry Kane bagged himself a brace and Jude Bellingham also scored - I'm liking the $6.60 Picklebet special for the two stars to combine for 3+ goals here. Kane is one goal away from breaking Gary Lineker's English record of 10 World Cup goals and remains the pivotal figure up front, while Bellingham has been in excellent touch lately and can double down here.
  • England have won 12 of their 15 games under Thomas Tuchel
  • Thirteen of England's last 14 wins have been to nil
  • Ghana are winless in six of their last seven games, losing five of those
  • Ghana were kept scoreless vs Panama until the 94th minute
  • Harry Kane has scored 81 goals for England, had a brace vs Croatia & can make it 11 World Cup goals with another strike here
  • Jude Bellingham has scored three goals in his last six games for club & country
  • Ghana conceded five goals vs Austria in a recent friendly; England have scored 4+ goals in three of their last eight wins

England vs Ghana Head To Head

The only previous meeting between the two nations resulted in a 1-1 draw in 2011. England are unbeaten in eight previous World Cup encounters vs African nations, winning five.

England Form Analysis

Couldn't quite believe my eyes - England's opening game was actually extremely entertaining as they carved up Croatia 4-2 to get their World Cup trophy pursuit up and running.

While Thomas Tuchel will be a bit concerned over some defensive lapses, he would be pleased with the firepower produced up front, with Harry Kane scoring a double, while Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford also found the back of the net.

As mentioned, England produced 20 shots inside the box, which was a World Cup record for the national side.

England snapped a six-game winless run vs top 15 nations overall and are now top of Group L and should progress in top spot barring a collapse here.

England Team News

Rashford scored off the bench against Croatia, but it's expected that Noni Madueke will start on the wing again here.

There could be changes in defence from Tuchel, with Ezri Konsa and John Stones possibly under pressure to retain their spots.

Ghana Form Analysis

There's plenty of talent in this Ghanian side, but for whatever reason they just can't put it together.

Somehow, they failed to qualify for the AFCON at the start of the year and they arrived at the World Cup on a six-game winless run, losing five.

Ghana managed to scrape a 1-0 win over Panama, but they needed a 94th minute strike from 20-year-old Caleb Yirenkyi to secure all three points.

The Black Stars are now on the cusp of a first World Cup knockout appearance since 2010.

Ghana Team News

It's set to be a big game for Man City's Antoine Semenyo, who will come up against his club teammates in Stones, Guehi and Nico O'Reilly.

Goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi was forced off at half-time and is in some doubt for this clash, meaning Benjamin Asare could get a call-up.
