The Brumbies had their chances to finish second and even challenge for top spot this season they dropped crucial games at crucial times. Finishing third is, however, no mean feat, and they will challenge anyone in Canberra.

On 12 April this year, the Brumbies lost 35-29 at home to the Hurricanes, a game they could and probably should have won. However, since then, the Brumbies have beaten the Waratahs at home, Western Force away and the Reds on the road.

Last week, in another thrilling encounter, the Brumbies just lost out to the Crusaders in Canberra, losing the game 33-31.

Hurricanes Form

The Hurricanes season has been a tough inconsistent, winning eight, losing five and drawing one of their 14 games. A fourth-place finish was decent considering some of the early results.

Late season form saved the Hurricanes who were unbeaten in their last six matches. That run began with a draw in Perth against the Western Force, followed by an away win over the Brumbies and a home victory against the Chiefs.

That result was followed by a narrow 24-20 win over the struggling Highlanders before seeing off the Reds 31-27 away from home. Last weekend, the Wellington-based outfit ran Moana to pieces, winning the fixture 64-12.
