Decorum marked an impressive start to his second campaign with a victory at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, signaling his potential as a standout to watch this autumn. As a full brother to Switzerland, a Coolmore Stud Stakes winner, Decorum's $550,000 price tag reflects his strong pedigree. Initially catching attention on debut when runner-up to Attica, who later claimed the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, Decorum showcased his growth by winning decisively over 1400m. The successful trainer-jockey partnership of Michael Freedman and Tommy Berry, boasting a 32% win rate, continues to thrive.

Decorum made an ideal start to his second campaign with a strong first-up win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, immediately flagging himself as a colt to follow as the autumn approaches.

A full brother to Coolmore Stud Stakes winner Switzerland, who has just completed his first season at stud, the son of Snitzel is shaping as more of a middle-distance type despite his brother being a noted sprinter.

That blend of pedigree and scope was reflected in his $550,000 price tag at the 2024 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

He first caught the eye on debut in September when finishing runner-up behind Attica in a somewhat unlucky run. That performance has since taken on extra merit with Attica going on to claim the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes, while Decorum later broke through at Newcastle before a spell.
There could be real substance to Wednesday’s BM68 for three-year-olds, with Decorum accounting for a field in which all five of his beaten rivals were last-start winners and brought a clear fitness edge into the race.

The win also continued the strong association between trainer Michael Freedman and jockey Tommy Berry, a combination striking at just under 32 per cent this season with 19 winners.

Back at the races on Wednesday, Decorum showed he has come back a stronger horse, finding plenty late over 1400m to score, with further improvement possible over more ground.
