Canterbury won the round 3 matchup earlier in the season thanks to their strong defensive presence and swift ball movement out through their backline. Parramatta had a couple of chances with Zac Lomax initiating a lot of attack but they also squandered a lot of ball thanks to the Dogs defence.

Mitch Moses didn’t play in that game which is an important factor for the Eels but even though the Bulldogs looked lost at sea in defence against the Dolphins two weeks ago it is difficult to see a repeat of that from the best defensive team in the NRL.

The Eels folded under pressure against the Panthers and now will face the 3rd best scoring team with a host of top name players returning from Origin and Injury. 5 of the Bulldogs 9 wins have been by 13+ and half of the Eels losses have also been 13+ margins. The Dogs could be on one here!

Take Canterbury to win 13+, their Team Total Over and Marcelo Montoya to continue his good tryscoring form against the Eels.

  • 5 of 9 Canterbury wins and 4 of 8 Eels losses have been by 13+ pts this season.
  • The Bulldogs are the 3rd best scoring team in the league and average 30pts per game when winning by 13+ pts.
  • The Eels right side defence has allowed 50% of opposition tries so far this season.
  • Marcelo Montoya has scored a try in 3 of his last 4 games against Parramatta.

Head to Head

Canterbury have won the last two matchups between these teams including a 16-8 victory earlier this year. It has otherwise been slim pickings for the Dogs since 2019 with Parramatta owning a 9-4 win record in their 13 games played.

10 of 13 games have gone Under the Game Total including the last 3 in a row. The win margin in the two most recent games has been 8 pts or less but that broke a 7 game streak of 18+ pt scorelines.

The Bulldogs had their second bye of the season last weekend which kept them at the top of the NRL ladder despite having fewer wins than the Canberra Raiders. Their most recent outing was in Round 11, a 44-8 loss to the Dolphins breaking a 3 game win streak.

Canterbury had just 962 Run Metres in the game with 0 Linebreaks. They committed 15 Errors guaranteeing their opponent had top field position on a number of occasions. There is not too much to take out of that loss unless we see repeat performances, but the overwhelming evidence from this season is that it was a one off game.

The Blue and White are otherwise 1st in Territory, 3rd in Possession, have the 3rd highest average points of any team in the league while also having the best defence of any team in the league.

The Eels scored first and were well matched against the Panthers last weekend but couldn’t do enough to secure victory, losing 18-10 against the defending premiers.

With Origin stars all backing up, it was a Moses vs Cleary showdown and unfortunately for Eels fans they were on the losing end of that battle as well. Parra did well to create some chances but their were just not enough of them during the matchup and with their conversion rate being so low the points were left on the park.

Parramatta are ranked 12th or worse in major attacking stats like Run Metres, Linebreaks, Tackles Inside 20m and Average Points. They are similarly low ranked in most defensive measures too.
