It is only fitting that we see the top team in the NFC go head-to-head against the top team in the AFC when the Philadelphia Eagles meet the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Since their 2-2 start to the season Philadelphia went on a tear, winning 10 straight games before losing to their divisional rival Washington 33-36 in their third-last game of the regular season. The Eagles haven’t lost since then and got revenge on the Commanders in the Conference Final putting them in their place with a 55-23 defeat.

Bringing Saquon Barkley to Philly has been a master-stroke by the Eagles organisation, with the former Giant coming within 101 yards of the all-time single-season rushing yards record, finishing the season with 2, 004 yards on the ground.

What was seen in the Conference Final poses the biggest threat to Kansas City and that is what Barkley’s dominance does to the opposition and how it opens up the offence for Jalen Hurts, both on the ground and in the air.

Say what you like about the Chiefs, love them or hate them, they are on the brink of greatness giving themselves a chance to be the first ever team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, after beating the Eagles two seasons ago and backing it up with a victory over San Francisco last year.

Over the past two years they haven’t been flashy, but they have got the job done when it counts and you can put that down to three men in my opinion, Patrick Mahomes, Andy Ried and now Steve Spagnuolo.

Speculation of how good the Chiefs are and how they get the good rub of the calls is one thing, but the true fact is that they always put themselves in a position to win and with a 14-2 record along with 2 playoff wins it is hard to argue that they do not deserve to be in the Super Bowl.

The flash and glamour of the Chiefs is long gone and they are grinding out wins. They barely rank in the top ten in any offensive or defensive statistic except for the one that matters most and that is points against where they ranked fourth allowing 19.4 points per game.

Also to not is that the Chiefs have a much stronger rush defence than pass defence, ranked 8th in opposition rushing yards (106.7yds/G) compared to 18th in opposition passing yards (217.6yds/G).
