Scone hosts an eight-race country meeting on Friday, July 31, with the competitive program featuring a mix of progressive gallopers and experienced campaigners.

Several in-form local stables are well represented throughout the meeting, while a number of last-start winners and promising lightly raced runners ensure plenty of depth across the card.

Scone Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 6 Yes To Infinity

Local trainer Cameron Crockett heads into Friday's meeting in terrific form, with three acceptors after preparing eight winners from his 11 starters in July, including his past three.

Among that winning run was Yes To Infinity, who justified an odds-on quote on debut over this track and trip on July 11 when able to push forward under Aaron Bullock, and the leading country hoop is expected to adopt similar tactics despite drawing wide.

That alley isn't a major disadvantage over this short sprint trip on Scone's spacious circuit, while the three-year-old had already shown ability in two smart winter trials before his race-day debut.

There also appears to be good depth to the maiden he won, with runner-up Greyt Remlap looking to have promise, third-placegetter Flaunter finishing runner-up at his next start and fourth-placed Mr Cacciatore breaking through at Bathurst on Tuesday.

This is clearly tougher, but the lightly raced gelding is still untapped and looks capable of going on with the job.

Coolmore Class 1 & Maiden Plate Tips (Race 6)

Scone Best Bet - Race 6 No. 6 Tacitly

An obvious on-top selection for Friday's Scone meeting is Tacitly, who lost no admirers when resuming over seven furlongs here on July 10.

Although the distance ultimately proved too short for the Archibald-trained three-year-old, he charged home from the rear behind all-the-way winner Arapawa in an eye-catching first-up performance.

That form received a significant boost when Arapawa stepped up in grade to win a Saturday Metro BM72 at Rosehill eight days later, with the pair having cleared right away from the remainder of the field in their July 10 clash.

Tacitly opened his winning account with a dominant Eagle Farm maiden victory over 1840m in January before ending that campaign with a competitive fourth in a Saturday three-year-old handicap.

With natural improvement from that fresh run and the rise to a mile expected to suit, he should take a power of beating second-up.

Scone Value Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Wolf Club

Don't be surprised if the market finds Wolf Club at a double-figure quote, with the engagement of Aaron Bullock a notable positive.

The star country jockey combines with Mac Griffith, and the pair have produced an outstanding record this season, teaming up for 12 winners and three seconds from 23 starters, including a winning hat-trick at Muswellbrook last Sunday.

This son of Tivaci caught the eye late when placed in a June 10 trial here before opening his winter campaign with a runner-up finish on a Heavy 10 at Narromine behind Turbulent, who won again at his next appearance.

While a touch plain second-up, he was also unsuited when racing back in the field over seven furlongs in a provincial BM64 at Newcastle on July 14 and may simply have been a run short.

All of Wolf Club's victories have come at 1600m and beyond, so the rise in distance and drop back to country grade third-up look ideal.
