Saturday racing at Murray Bridge features a competitive nine-race metropolitan card, with several in-form gallopers and progressive types engaged throughout the program.

Strong recent form references from Adelaide and Victorian meetings add depth to the meeting, while a number of runners look well placed dropping in grade or reaching peak fitness.

Murray Bridge Roughie - Race 5 No. 11 Starts Now

Starts Now has been well backed in both autumn appearances and there has been merit to each of those runs.

The first came fresh when he looked ominous once the gap appeared on the inside, although the momentum of a fitter winner out wider proved too much.

He then stepped to 1600m on May 2 and overcame some trouble for a fourth-of-14 finish, an effort that should top him off nicely.

The gelding brings a strong third-up record, having won his last two attempts at this stage of a campaign, with the only third-up defeat was a narrow one when trying to break his maiden.

Starts Now also won his latest try at this track, trip and grade, while Stirrup Cup is another to consider at longer odds, as he should be at peak fitness and is better than what he has shown this year.

Murray Bridge Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Streetcar Fury

While a short price in early markets, there is not much to fault with Streetcar Fury here.

The lightly raced sprinter has won three of eight starts, which includes a perfect three-from-three record at Murray Bridge.

The latest was a big return triumph at a short price on April 10 before he jumped sharply in grade to contest the Group 3 John Hawkes Stakes.

Streetcar Fury stuck on fairly well there for fifth, while a wide gate and big impost over 900m are not huge factors, as the son of Exceedance can stay out of trouble.

Grand Host could be the main threat off terrific recent trials, and he has good course-and-distance stats, however, the veteran has no winning fresh form.

Murray Bridge Value Bet - Race 8 No. 11 Major Rumble

Major Rumble resumes off a nice Murray Bridge trial earlier this month and both of his wins have come at this circuit.

His only loss here came when resuming over 1000m in December, where he still recorded the second-fastest final 400m of the program.

While there was only the one victory last campaign, the gelding was very consistent throughout that summer preparation in races no tougher than what he contests here.

The form has also stacked up from his last two thirds at Morphettville before a break, with both winners from those races since measuring up in stronger company.

Major Rumble should camp off the speed and chime in late under apprentice Tala Hutchinson, whose 3kg claim leaves him only half a kilo above the minimum.

Murray Bridge Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 3 Sought After

Hopefully the Moody and Coleman yard crosses the border with Sought After, as this will be by far the easiest race he has seen in Australia.

Forgive his return at Caulfield last month, where nothing went right when he settled back and then found trouble in the straight.

Although well held at Bendigo last start, he was also never in contention when back in a muddling affair.

This is a massive drop in grade from that BM84 to a BM70 in South Australia, and there is strong form through his first Australian preparation, including when thrown in the deep end for the Meteorite.

Sought After was not disgraced in that hot sprint, while his last attempt in New Zealand resulted in a competitive Listed fourth in a strong field that included Damask Rose, Evaporate, Perfumist, Public Attention and Lord Penman.
