Morphettville Best Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Romani Ite Domum

The gelding completed five starts in his first prep and he won two of those.

The three-year-old was completing a double when taking out an 1100m Benchmark 64 at Geelong, having taken out a 1300m at Bendigo on his previous start.

Romani Ite Domum went on to place second when contesting a 1200m open handicap at Cranbourne subsequently.

The youngster found only a subsequent Hong Kong export in Refusetobeenglish too strong that day and he was spelled following a Pakenham disappointment in December.

That Pakenham event, a Benchmark 74 handicap has produced a number of subsequent winners, and the gelding has shown up well in jump out’s in recent times.

Ben, Will & JD Hayes’ representative shouldn’t have too many issues dropping in distance and crossing the border, he is taken to resume with a win.

Morphettville Feature Bet - Race 5 No. 1 Matagha

The New Zealand-bred colt made his debut in an 1100m Benchmark 64 event here at the end of last month.

The son of Tivaci was ridden cold that day and finished well to just miss out in second on that occasion.

Matagha appeared to have improved for that experience, going on to break through for his first win when taking out a 1200m maiden at Murray Bridge two weeks later.

He jumped from a wide barrier when again ridden from off the pace that day and he remains open to improvement on just his third career start.

Both of those previous efforts came on soft going and he should have no issues with underfoot conditions.

Trainer Phillip Stokes knows what it takes to win this contest and Jacob Opperman’s mount can provide him with back-to-back wins in this event.

Festival Fire Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Morphettville Value Bet - Race 7 No. 13 Extra Hot

The four-year-old recorded a couple of placed efforts from four starts last prep, however, she could finish only fourth when resuming at this venue last month.

The switch to wet conditions has suited the daughter of Ambidexter since, with the filly going on to record wins in both subsequent starts.

The first of those saw her get home by a narrow margin when racing over 1200m on the main track here at the end of last month.

Extra Hot raced from mid-division on that occasion and that form is working out well thanks to the subsequent wins of the second, fourth and fifth.

Peter & Belind Birch’s marewent on to complete a double when again winning by a narrow margin at Murray Bridge two weeks ago.

Extra Hit is expected to be ridden with restraint once more and she looks value to complete a hat-trick.

Morphettville Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 10 The Mansman

The son of Almanzor ended his last prep with a victory by just over a length in a 1400m Benchmark 66 handicap at Murray Bridge.

The Mansman resumed with a solid effort in finishing four lengths fifth when dropped back to 1200m for a Benchmark 0-68 handicap on the main course here in April.

While the four-year-old could finish only seventh over 1400m at Murray Bridge subsequently, he was beaten less than two-and-a-half-lengths.

The gelding jumped from a wide barrier when contesting a Benchmark 70 handicap that day and he stepped up to 1600m when returning to Murray Bridge last time.

He was a big eye-catcher when again jumping from a wide barrier and being forced to make his challenge very wide over 1550m.

Phillipe Stokes’ gelding was racing on a wet track for just the second time that day and with an inside alley here, he looks capable of going one better.
