Caulfield Value Bet - Race 3 No. 3 Xarpo

She'll likely improve from this fresh outing and furnish over more ground, however, Xarpo is classy and the three-year-old finds a thin race against the fillies.

From the same family as Japanese champion Deep Impact, the Simon Zahra-trained galloper progressed nicely over her first prep, with back-to-back wins at starts three and four.

Xarpo caught the eye in two appearances ahead of those victories, with a big finish on debut before an unlucky Geelong attempt and she arrives here off a pair of good jump-out's.

After being purchased for $47,500, he's closing in on $150,000 in prizemoney since joining Andrea Leek and he's only completed six runs for the new stable.

It was a great training effort to get him bolting in first-up over 2000m and connections opted against a stronger Flemington race last Saturday.

Captain Electric was in the market for an open handicap on June 21, so it's no surprise to see him head the betting for a BM78 and wet ground is the key.

Not only does she come out of a fast-run race first-up, but The Black Cloud also finds her easiest metro assignment since saluting at Flemington last winter.

World Alliance is a very handy sprinter when right and with his turn-of-foot suited, he was able to get the better of this Joe Pride-trained galloper at Canterbury on June 9.

The Black Cloud hasn't quite progressed this season, but she's still been competitive and the four-year-old has started single figures in much deeper races than this.

Caulfield Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 4 Earlswood

Following a solid resumption over seven furlongs, we were with Earlswood second-up at Sandown and the market really warmed to him late ($17-$10).

An in-form Saban (winner) had a better turn-of-foot with 51kg in a somewhat muddling affair and Earlswood may have been one run short when 1400m-1800m.

The seven-year-old held a two-length margin on Sayedaty Sadaty, who heads the early market here and now out to 2000m third-up, Earlswood is set to peak.

Caulfield Roughie - Race 9 No. 4 Golden Monkey

While the gelding found 1000m a touch sharp on his Australian return, that Country Discovery effort was fair and he was then freshened-up ahead of the Golden Topaz.

Golden Monkey was plain in that country feature and as a result, blinkers have been reapplied and he completed a solid jump-out on June 17 with that gear change in effect.

The ex-Singapore galloper is a big horse who looks to carry plenty of condition, so he may have just needed a few runs to bring him on this campaign.
