Guido has built a solid record this preparation, contesting two metro races since resuming at Warracknabeal in August.
The New Zealand-bred gelding has finished fourth in both city efforts, including a 2550m Benchmark 70 at Flemington when second-up at long odds.
He then improved when stretching to 3000m at Moonee Valley earlier this month, again finishing fourth and closing off steadily behind fitter rivals.
A winner over 3850m in The Road To The Jericho Cup Heat 2 at the same track last November, he’s proven at a staying journey and handles all conditions.
With Mitchell Freedman striking at 20% at this circuit (6/30), and Champion NZ Jump Jockey Joshua Parker riding in Victoria for the first time, Guido looks well placed to return to winning form.
Joseph Manders Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)
Mornington Best Bet - Race 3 No. 2 Gram
Gram showed good promise in three starts for James Cummings last season, placing twice and displaying genuine ability in strong maidens.
He finished third on debut over 900m on good ground in November 2023 before a close second on a heavy surface at Warwick Farm the following June.
The Exceed And Excel gelding was spelled after a below-par seventh at Randwick Kensington but has since undergone both knee surgery and gelding.
Now trained by Anthony & Sam Freedman, he’s looked sharp winning two recent jumpouts at this course, suggesting he’s returned in excellent order.
Jamie Mott takes the ride from barrier seven, and with a tongue tie and cross-over nose band added, Gram looks ready to resume with a strong performance.

Mornington Value Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Hide Your Assets
Hide Your Assets has been racing consistently, building on an August second at Wangaratta with consecutive wins through September.
She broke through at Tatura over 1450m when coming from midfield to win comfortably by two lengths, before following up over 1400m with another determined victory.
Both efforts were strong at Benchmark 56 level, and although she found the rise in class too tough last start at Sale, she wasn’t disgraced after working early from a wide draw.
The daughter of Supido now drops back to a more suitable grade and steps to 1500m, which looks ideal given her pattern.
With the benefit of Lauren Burke’s 3kg claim, Hide Your Assets can bounce back to form in this easier assignment.
L J Harvey BM62 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Mornington Roughie - Race 8 No. 5 Suppose I Do
Suppose I Do has built a strong record at this venue, with a win, two seconds and a third from four appearances at Mornington.
He was runner-up over 1200m here in April, beaten just under one-and-a-half lengths, after a placing at Cranbourne ten days earlier.
That consistency followed a win at this track in stronger company than he meets here, highlighting his genuine affinity for the circuit.
Although the drop back in distance isn’t ideal, he’s proven capable over this trip, and softer ground would enhance his prospects.
Drawn wide but generally ridden cold, the chestnut looks a capable each-way chance fresh in an open affair.
