Hawkesbury Best Bet - Race 2 No. 3 Call Me Sassy

Call Me Sassy debuted in a Super Maiden at this track and was clearly new to racing, yet still found the line with purpose late in the piece.

That experience should bring sharp improvement at her second start, particularly stepping to 1100m, which looks a more suitable trip.

She had only the one trial leading in but had been in and out of work for over a year, showing glimpses of ability in earlier hit-outs.

Her more exposed opposition have all had multiple opportunities, whereas this mare is open to the most progress.

With natural improvement and added race experience, she gets her chance to breakthrough at start two.

Hawkesbury Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Detendu

Detendu has been well supported throughout his career and while he hasn’t advanced beyond that Warwick Farm maiden last winter, he's still been mostly consistent.

He arrives here off a smart trial win on October 3 and now finds a winnable race after competing in stronger company for much of his preparation.

Hayek was impressive breaking through at Newcastle earlier this month, but rising from 900m to 1100m is no simple task.

The form from that maiden hasn’t held up, whereas Detendu’s $3.60 SP two runs back behind Group 3 placegetter Outback Miss has to be respected at this level.

He should get the right run on speed and looks the proven class runner in this provincial BM64.

Hawkesbury Value Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Channelling

Channelling continues to build nicely this preparation and looks ready to peak third-up after finishing runner-up over this track and trip last start.

That effort followed an even return on inferior ground at Kembla Grange and suggested she’s improving with racing.

She was the best of the on-speed brigade last time and her maiden victory also came third-up last campaign, which adds confidence here.

Hawkesbury form is always respected, and she’s been competitive in all three local appearances to date.

With another small step forward, Channelling can be right in the finish at each-way odds.
