Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 12 Carpaccio
The son of Merchant Navy getting has shown improvement with racing this prep resuming with a defeat by just under a length in a Benchmark 65 handicap at Gold Coast in February.
The four-year-old contested a 1300m event held on a soft 5 when making his debut for trainer Barry Lockwood on that occasion.
The gelding finished one place better when again encountering wet conditions in going down by just under half-a-length in a 1400m Class 1 handicap at Eagle Farm just under a month ago.
The pick stepped up to 1640m for the first time when strong in the market prior to finishing runner-up in a Class 1 event here a week later.
The form of that latest effort received a recent boost with fourth home Shake’N’Bake going on to deliver a victory at Toowoomba recently.
Barrier eight shouldn’t pose any issue given his tactical versatility and the gelding is taken to go one better in this contest.

Doomben Roughie - Race 5 No. 2 Cadetship
The five-year-old placed just once from five starts in Sydney earlier this prep with that placed effort a close second in a 1300m Benchmark 88 handicap at Rosehill in February.
While the gelding failed to build on that effort he appeared to appreciate the switch to Queensland when two-and-a-half-lengths fourth over 1400m at Gold Coast last month.
Chris Waller’s representative reportedly didn’t appreciate backing up quickly when finishing only seventh over 1400m at Eagle Farm when reappearing seven days later.
The selection has raced on a good 4 surface in each of his last four outings however the softer going expected here is no issue with his Rosehill second having come on a soft 7 surface.
Connections have opted to leave the winkers worn of late off for this event with barrier seven no issue in a field decimated by scratchings.
The pick tackles this distance for the first time here and he may prove up to recording a surprise win under Kyle Wilson-Taylor.
XXXX QTIS 3yo Quality Fillies Handicap Tips (Race 7)

The daughter of Sun City finished outside the first four just twice in nine starts last prep including when beaten just over two lengths at Ipswich at the start of November.
The pick went on to record the third win of her career when saluting at Benchmark 65 level when racing over 1600m on good ground at Sunshine Coast nine days later.
The youngster went on to prove that she handles wet tracks delivering two good efforts on heavy going including when contesting the 1800m Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes at Eagle Farm in December.
The selection found the step up to 2100m no issue when ending that prep with a second in a quality contest at Eagle Farm at the end of December.
Matt Kropp’s representative should have no issue with the drop back in distance and having trialled with a second at Toowoomba recently and she looks value to return with a victory.
Sky Racing No Metro Wins Handicap Tips (Race 8)

The gelding is a three-time winner including when taking out an 1100m Class 2 handicap on a sound surface at Ipswich in early December.
While the son of Kobayashi has been unable to win since he has registered second place finishes in three of his four subsequent outings.
The most recent of those efforts saw the gelding beaten less than a length when runner-up in a similar race to this over 1200m here at the start of this month.
The selection raced on a soft 6 track that day and having won on heavy going in the past any softening of the going would be no issue.
The son of Kobayashi boasts an inside barrier for this contest with Emily Lang’s one-and-a-half-kilogram claim a further positive.
Trainer Tony Georgieff boasts an impressive 21% strike-rate (15/72) since taking up training and his representative is taken to register a win on his first start over this distance.
