Socceroos 2022 World Cup Betting Odds

Australia go into the 2022 World Cup looking to ruffle some feathers in a group they have every chance of escaping. France, Denmark and Tunisia join them in Group D, with the Aussies knowing that victories over Denmark and Tunisia are well within their reach.

With the tournament fast approaching, we have brought together some of the markets you can back the Aussies in, along with the best odds.

World Cup Winner Betting

The favourites in this market are your usual suspects, with Brazil ($5.50), England ($6.50), France ($7.00) and Argentina ($8.00) the favourites right now. Few truly believe that a side outside of the top 10 will realistically challenge for the World Cup crown, and this is reflected in the odds.

Australia are one of the least-fancied sides with bet365, currently available at $251.00, with only Qatar, Tunisia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Costa Rica coming in with longer odds.

If Australia are to win the competition, then they will have to get out of a group containing reigning World Cup champions France, a strong Denmark outfit and Tunisia. The Aussies will likely target wins over Denmark and Tunisia, and from there, anything can happen in the knockout stages of the competition.

Top Goalscorer Betting

When it comes to a World Cup, goals are the most valuable currency. While being able to keep clean sheets is huge, it does not guarantee victory. However, if you can continually outscore your opponents, it does not matter how many goals you concede.

Australia are not a side known for goal scoring on the biggest stage. The likes of Tim Cahill are long gone now, with the Aussies have to put their hopes on the likes of Jamie Maclaren. The forward scored seven goals in qualifying and is our pick to top score for his nation. However, can he etch his name in history as the 2022 World Cup top scorer?

First Time Winner

The teams to have won the FIFA World Cup are Brazil (five times), Germany (four), Italy (four), Argentina (two), France (two), Uruguay (two), Spain (one), and England (one).

With only eight nations ever lifting the world Cup trophy aloft, there are a number of sides that could see a new name etched onto the trophy, with Australia one such side. Backing the 'Yes' option in this market will see you win if any side wins the World Cup for the first time in their history. If you think the Aussies will win the competition, then this is another market you can back them in.

Group D Winners Betting

Australia make up one quarter of the teams in Group D as they look to make it out of the preliminary stage and onto the knockout rounds. France are currently the big favourite to win the group at $1.42 with Unibet, with Denmark next in line at $3.75.

Australia are actually seen as a longer shot to win the group at $19.00 then Tunisia, with the side $13.00. While some will look to back them in the winner market, even if they beat Denmark and Tunisia, they wills struggle to both beat and outdo France.

To Qualify From Group D

This market is one in which the Aussies are far more likely to be winners. Two sides will ascend from Group D, with most assuming it will be France and one other side. Australia would need to beat Tunisia and Denmark to ensure they go through as long as France do what most people think they will and win three from three.

Australia are the outsiders in this market at $5.50 with bet365, and they could yet prove an astute bet in this market.
