In the highly anticipated AFCON match in Rabat, hosts Morocco are set to face Zambia with both teams aiming for advancement in Group A. Morocco, having remained unbeaten on home turf since 2009, is keen on solidifying their group lead, particularly after a draw with Mali. Zambia, despite their persistent struggle for AFCON wins post-2012, hopes to progress as one of the top third-placed teams. Morocco is expected to win with a clean sheet as Brahim Diaz continues his scoring streak.

Zambia vs Morocco Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

There's everything still to play for in Group A as host nation and tournament favourites Morocco square off against a resilient Zambia side in Rabat on Monday.

Morocco are yet to hit top gear so far as they chase a first piece of AFCON silverware since 1976, with their last-start draw with Mali meaning they need to win this game in order to ensure top spot in Group A. With Mali coming up against last-placed Comoros and favoured to win, Morocco will sense the urgency of making a statement here. Zambia have battled hard in their two group games after sharing the spoils with both Mali and Comoros, but failing to register a single shot on target in the ladder further underlines their struggles in attack.

I can't see Zambia finding the back of the net here. The Copper Bullets haven't beaten Morocco in a competitive game since 1993 and they didn't look like threatening against Comoros. I'm expecting Morocco to produce a much-improved performance to prevail here, but Zambia will be no pushovers as they look to still advance as one of the best third-placed teams. Morocco and Under 2.5 goals looks the best play, with Brahim Diaz continuing his wonderful goalscoring form for his country.
  • Morocco are unbeaten on home soil since 2009
  • Morocco are unbeaten in 18 of their last 19 games (won 17, drawn 1)
  • Nine of Morocco's last 10 wins inside 90 minutes in all competitions have been to nil
  • Morocco's last nine wins on home soil have been to nil
  • Morocco have won the last five meetings between the teams
  • Zambia have seen Under 2.5 goals in seven of their last nine games
  • Zambia have seen Under 2.5 goals in their last six AFCON games
  • Zambia haven't won an AFCON game since winning the trophy in 2012
  • Brahim Diaz scored seven goals in AFCON qualifying & has been on target in both group games
  • Morocco have scored exactly two goals in three of their last six games vs Zambia

Zambia vs Morocco Head to Head

Morocco have won the last five meetings between the teams and 14 of the 22 overall. Zambia's last win over the Atlas Lions in a competitive game was back in 1993.

Zambia Form Analysis

Incredibly, Zambia still remain winless at the AFCON since their shock 2012 run to the trophy, drawing nine and losing two of their 11 such games.

Additionally, the Copper Bullets are now winless in their last six games in all competitions, drawing their opening two games of this AFCON.

Leicester City striker Patson Daka secured his nation a point with an stoppage time equaliser against Mali in their opening game before Zambia were forced to settle for a 0-0 stalemate with Comoros.

It was a great chance for Zambia to really assert themselves as a threat in Group A, but their lack of potency up front was visible again, with the side failing to register a shot on target.

Zambia Team News

There's no fresh injury concerns for Zambia, with Daka once again the most likely man to spark his side in the final third.

  • Goalkeepers: Lawrence Mulenga (Power Dynamos), Francis Mwansa (Zanaco), Willard Mwanza (Power Dynamos)

  • Defenders: Mathews Banda (Nkana), Dominic Chanda (Power Dynamos), Obino Chisala (Al Merrikh), Kabaso Chongo (Zesco United), David Hamansenya (Leganes), Gift Mphande (Zesco United), Frankie Musonda (Bahrain SC), Benson Sakala (Bohemians 1905), Stoppila Sunzu (Changchun Yatai)

  • Forwards: Patson Daka (Leicester City), Jack Lahne Kalichi (Austria Lustenau), Eliya Mandanji (Zanaco), Kennedy Musonda (Hapoel Ramat Gan).

Morocco Form Analysis

It hasn't been a spectacular start to the AFCON from the hosts, but they remain in pole position to top Group A coming into the final round of fixtures.

Morocco did what they needed to do in opening their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Comoros, with Real Madrid winger Brahim Diaz opening the scoring before an extraordinary overhead kick from Olympiakos striker Ayoub El Kaabi doubled their advantage.

However, the Atlas Lions couldn't make it two wins from two, settling for a frustrating 1-1 draw with Mali in their next outing, with both teams scoring from the penalty spot.

Nevertheless, Morocco remain unbeaten on home soil since 2009 and are still the team to beat in this tournament.

PSG star Achraf Hakimi is yet to play this tournament, but could see some minutes off the bench here.
