Nigeria, three-time AFCON champions, are set to face Tanzania in the Group C AFCON match at the Complexe sportif de Fès. Despite Nigeria's recent World Cup qualification setbacks, they are seen as strong contenders in this tournament, led by top players Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. Competing against Tanzania, who has struggled in previous AFCON outings and with recent form issues, Nigeria aims to secure a win to boost their standing. Predictions favor Nigeria due to their strategic strengths and Tanzania's historical performance inconsistencies.

Nigeria vs Tanzania Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Nigeria will be looking to extend their unbeaten record over Tanzania when the two nations clash in AFCON Group C action on Tuesday at the Complexe sportif de Fès.

Three-time AFCON champions Nigeria have endured a turbulent year, with the continental powerhouse failing to qualify for their second consecutive World Cup. As such, everything will go into this AFCON competition, with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey leading the Super Eagles. Runners-up at the 2023 edition of the tournament, Nigeria - despite their World Cup mishap - start amongst the leading contenders to emerge triumphant. By contrast, Tanzania aren't expected to make much of an impact in a group that also contains Tunisia and Uganda.

Tanzania have failed to find the back of the net in six of their last eight AFCON games and have never won a match at the tournament. Additionally, they've failed to win all of their last seven outings heading into this clash. Nigeria obviously haven't been too impressive this year, but they are the far superior side and in Osihmen, they have a genuine world class striker who is arguably in career-best form for Galatasaray at the moment. Backing Nigeria to win this game to nil.
  • Nigeria have won five of their last six AFCON group games
  • Nigeria have won five of their last eight games in all competitions
  • Nigeria are unbeaten in the eight previous meetings between the teams, keeping a clean sheet in the last four
  • Tanzania have never won an AFCON game, failing to score in six of their last eight such outings
  • Tanzania are on a four-game losing streak
  • Tanzania have failed to score in 12 of their last 13 defeats
  • Victor Osimhen has scored 31 goals in 45 appearances for Nigeria and is top scorer for Galatasaray, netting six goals in the Champions League

Nigeria vs Tanzania Head to Head

Nigeria have never lost to Tanzania throughout their history, winning five and drawing three of the eight previous encounters.

Nigeria Form Analysis

Traditionally one of the heavyweight nations in Africa, Nigeria are three-time winners of the AFCON and will be aiming to go one step further than their 2023 runner-up finish.

However, it hasn't been a great year for the Super Eagles - as mentioned, they failed to qualify for their second straight World Cup, finishing behind South Africa in their group before suffering elimination to DR Congo in the continental playoff.

Despite topping their AFCON qualifying group, Nigeria weren't entirely convincing, finishing just three points ahead of Benin and Rwanda.

There was more disappointment for Eric Chelle's side during their AFCON preparations, suffering a 2-1 defeat to fellow contenders Egypt in their final warm-up game.

Tanzania Form Analysis

Tanzania registered back-to-back wins over Ethiopia and Guinea across the final two rounds of fixtures in AFCON qualifying to finish second in their group, securing their spot in the competition proper for the third time in the last four editions.

However, it wasn't enough for Hemed Suleiman to keep his job, with Argentine manager Miguel Gamondi taking charge last month.

It hasn't been a bright period since Tanzania qualified - they've lost four games on the bounce, failing to score in three, while Gamondi's first game at the helm resulted in a 4-3 defeat to Kuwait.

Tanzania Team News

No fresh injury concerns for Tanzania, with former Newcastle Jets winger Charles M’Mombwa one of the main threats after scoring a double and registering an assist in the 4-3 loss to Kuwait last time out.
