Mozambique vs Cameroon Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

There's everything to play for in Group F as Cameroon and Mozambique square off at the AFCON in Agadir on Wednesday night.

Cameroon, who are aiming for a fifth Africa Cup of Nations trophy this tournament, are currently leading the group alongside Ivory Coast on four points, while Mozambique are one point behind after securing a historic first ever AFCON victory over Gabon in their previous outing. It was the first time in 16 previous AFCON matches that Mozambique had won a match at the tournament and now with Gabon eliminated, they are strongly positioned to reach the knockout phase - be it by recording another upset and finishing in the top two or as one of the best-ranked third-placed nations.

However, Cameroon are still the far superior side and should have enough quality to edge this. The Indomitable Lions endured a turbulent build-up to this AFCON, but they've grinded out some positive results and I'm tipping David Pagou's side to register another narrow victory here. Bryan Mbeumo is still searching for his first AFCON goal and after recording an assist earlier in the tournament, this looks as good a chance as any for the Man United star to get off the mark.
  • Cameroon have won the last seven meetings between the teams
  • Mozambique have lost seven of their last 11 games
  • Cameroon's last four wins have been to nil
  • Cameroon haven't scored more than one goal in their last four games
  • Mozambique haven't won back-to-back games since June 2024
  • Cameroon have seen BTTS - No in six of their last seven games
  • Cameroon defeated Mozambique 1-0 in the most-recent meeting between the teams
  • Bryan Mbeumo has scored seven goals in 29 appearances for Cameroon & is due to find the back of the net at the AFCON

Mozambique vs Cameroon Head To Head

Mozambique won the first ever encounter between the nations back in 1983, but it's been all Cameroon ever since, with the Indomitable Lions emerging victorious in the last seven meetings.

Mozambique Form Analysis

After going 16 previous AFCON games without a win, it was lucky No. 17 for Mozambique as they upset Gabon 3-2 in their last Group F outing.

Geny Catamo was the main man for the Mambas, providing an assist for Faisal Bangal’s opening strike before scoring himself via the penalty spot.

Despite an opening 1-0 defeat to Ivory Coast, Chiquinho Conde’s side are well-placed to advance to a first ever AFCON knockout phase.

Mozambique would advance as one of the top two automatic qualifiers from Group F by posting another upset here, but they're also currently the best third-placed side across all groups, meaning they're all but assured of a place in the R16.

Mozambique Team News

Conde is expected to name the same side that defeated Gabon.

  • Goalkeepers: Ernani Siluane (Black Bulls), Ivane Urrubal (UD Songo), Kimiss Zavala (Maritimo)

  • Defenders: Bruno Langa (Paphos), Oscar Cherene (UD Songo), Edmilson Dove (Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya), Nanani (UD Songo), Feliciano Jone (Black Bulls), Diogo Cabral (Santa Clara), Reinildo Mandava (Sunderland), Mexer (Keciorengucu), Fernando Chambuco (Black Bulls)

  • Midfielders: Joao Bonde (Ferroviario), Ricardo Guimaraes (Zira FK), Manuel Kambala (Polokwane City), Keyns Abdala (Chaves), Alfonso Amade (Dunfermline)

  • Forwards: Geny Catamo (Sporting CP), Witness Quembo (CD Nacional), Elias Pelembe (UD Songo), Chamito Alfandega (AC Viseu U23), Stanley Ratifo (Chemie Leipzig), Faisal Bangal (Mestre), Melque Alexandre (UD Songo), Gildo Vilanculos (Tadamon Sour)

Cameroon Form Analysis

Cameroon certainly haven't been setting this tournament on fire to begin their trophy pursuit, but they are simply doing what they need to do and will be hoping for some improvement in the knockout phase.

Honestly, given the drama surrounding the side in the lead-up to the competition, Cameroon will be happy to still be unbeaten and holding an equal-share of top spot in Group F with Ivory Coast.

Karl Etta Eyong was on target as Cameroon edged out Gabon 1-0 in their opening contest before an own goal from Ghislain Konan handed them a point against defending champions Ivory Coast.

Attack is clearly an issue for David Pagou's side - they only managed a couple of shots on target in their last outing and haven't scored more than one goal in their last four outings.

Cameroon Team News

Junior Tchamadeu is suspended for this clash, but otherwise Cameroon have a full selection of players to choose from.

  • Midfielders: Martin Ndzie (Rapid Vienna), Carlos Baleba (Brighton), Arthur Avom (Lorient), Eric-Junior Dina Ebimbe (Brest), Brice Ambina (Valerenga), Jean Junior Onana (Genoa), Olivier Kemen (Istanbul Basaksehir)
