Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory Tips & Predictions
It doesn't get any better than sudden death football as Western Sydney Wanderers host Melbourne Victory in the second A-League Elimination Final at CommBank Stadium on Saturday night.

The Wanderers are arguably the form team in the competition entering the finals, coming into this contest on the back of a 12-game unbeaten streak, while Victory are determined to right the wrongs from last season, where they suffered a heartbreaking defeat late on against the Mariners.
Both teams have game-breakers amongst their ranks and if recent meetings are anything to go by, we will hopefully be in for an entertaining affair. At least four goals have been scored in the last four meetings, with the Wanderers scoring four goals themselves in three of those encounters. As such, I'm backing the Wanderers in for Over 1.5 Team Goals, while the hosts deserve favouritism in the H2H market, with Victory only winning two of the last 10 games between the sides at CommBank.
No team has scored more goals than the Wanderers this season, led by the likes of Nicolas Milanovic, Bozhidar Kraev, Brandon Borello, Zach Sapsford and Marcus Antonsson. Any one of these is a solid pick for first goalscorer, but we'll stick with top scorer Milanovic.
- Wanderers are unbeaten in their last 12 games
- Wanderers beat Victory 4-2 at CommBank in Round 23
- Victory have only won two of their last 10 games vs Wanderers at CommBank
- Over 2.5 goals has landed in the last five meetings between the teams
- At least six goals have been scored in three of the last four meetings
- Wanderers have scored 2+ goals in their last five games vs Victory
- Wanderers have scored 2+ goals in nine of their last 11 games
- Victory have conceded 2+ goals in four of their last six games
- Nicolas Milanovic is the Wanderers' top scorer this season with 12 goals
Head To Head
Victory have only won one of the last eight meetings between the teams, with the Wanderers coming from 2-0 down to prevail 4-2 in the most-recent clash at CommBank back in Round 23.
Western Sydney Wanderers Form
It's been a brilliant season for the Wanderers are a somewhat slow start, with the team heading into the finals unbeaten in their last 12 games, securing a fourth-placed finish and home final.
The Wanderers have scored a whopping 58 goals this season, led by Nicolas Milanovic with 12, while Brandon Borello is second on the total assist tally with 10.
With so much attacking threat all over the park, it's no surprise the Wanderers have been involved in numerous high-scoring games throughout the course of the season - including a most-recent 3-1 triumph over Macarthur last week, where they also came from a goal down.
Western Sydney Wanderers Team News
The Wanderers aren't expected to make any changes to the side that beat Macarthur last week.
Melbourne Victory Form
It was a turbulent season at stages, but Victory finished solidly enough to lock up fifth spot on the ladder and a crack at the Wanderers in sudden death football.
Patrick Kisnorbo's shock departure midway through the season certainly rattled Victory, but after a shaky start, Arthur Diles has gained control of this team and they remain capable of beating any team in the A-League on their day.
Victory ended the regular season with three wins from their last five games, with their only defeat coming against minor premiers Auckland, while their most-recent clash ended in a 1-1 draw with the Newcastle Jets last week - although both sides had nothing to play for in the last game of the campaign.
Melbourne Victory Team News
Victory have enjoyed the luxury of a full-strength squad over the last month or so. Expect Nishan Velupillay and Zinedine Machach to be the main threats up front, with Daniel Arzani also out to make an impact in the finals.
Verdict
The Wanderers have a good record vs Victory at CommBank and have scored 2+ goals against them in the last five meetings. Nicolas Milanovic can help propel the Wanderers to another win over Victory with by opening the scoring for his 13th goal of the campaign.
