Melbourne Victory vs Brisbane Roar Tips & Prediction

Melbourne Victory will be out to cement their top six status when they welcome the struggling Brisbane Roar to AAMI Park in the A-League on Saturday.

After a bright start to the season, the Roar have taken an almighty tumble down the ladder, losing six of their seven games so far in 2026 and slipping to eighth. Michael Valkanis has instilled an 'us vs them' mentality at Brisbane, but their physical brand of football has seemingly hit a ceiling, while the continued antics from both players and coach are getting a little tiresome. Meanwhile, Victory are in decent form with two wins from their last three and this looms as a great opportunity to establish themselves in a finals position.

Have to back Victory at home here. Brisbane are in terrible form, although they have boosted their squad with some good signings during the transfer window. Victory have also added some attacking firepower in striker Charles Nduka, who has impressed manager Arthur Diles in his two appearances so far. Nduka seems likely to start here and after grabbing an assist last week, looks good value to get among the goals against a poor Roar side. Backing Victory, both teams to score and Nduka to find the back of the net.
  • Victory have won two of their last three games
  • Victory have won four of their last five home games
  • Roar have lost six of their last seven games
  • BTTS has landed in the Roar's last four games
  • Roar have scored in seven of their nine away games this season
  • Charles Nduka registered an assist in his second game for Victory last week
  • Victory have scored 3+ goals in their last four wins
  • Roar have scored exactly 1 goal in their last two games this season & in their last two vs Victory

Melbourne Victory vs Brisbane Roar Head To Head

These teams have split their last three meetings at one win apiece and a draw. Brisbane emerged 1-0 winners back in Round 6, with Samuel Klein's goal in the third minute ultimately enough.

Melbourne Victory Form Analysis

Victory are currently in fifth spot on the ladder having registered a 7-2-7 record heading into Round 17.

It was a slow start to the season, but Victory have won six of their last nine games, including a most-recent 3-2 triumph away to Wellington last week.

Sebastian Esposito, Nishan Velupillay and Louis D’Arrigo got on the scoresheet for Victory, while Japanese striker Charles Nduka impressed with an assist.

“I thought Charles was excellent,” Arthur Diles said of the club's new forward signing.
“He had a chance in the first-half where it was probably outstanding defending from the (Phoenix) player sliding in and blocking when we put him through one-on-one.
“They’re a very physical defensive line, and Charles was excellent against them. He matched their physicality, he competed really well, he worked really hard for the team, and the only thing that let him down was not getting a goal.
“Every thing else for me, he had a great game, and he’s only going to get better and better.

Brisbane Roar Form Analysis

Brisbane head into this contest following an alarming loss of form, losing six of their last seven games and dropping to eighth on the ladder.

The Roar have a lot of work to do in order to reverse their fortunes and get back into finals contention.

After a crushing 4-1 loss away to leaders Newcastle, the Roar were upset 2-1 at home against the lowly Mariners last week.

New signing and Socceroos World Cup hopeful Nick D’Agostino got on the scoresheet, but that was the only bright spot for Brisbane, who have come crashing back down to earth.
