Scone Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 12 Saintly Sands

While she had to settle for a midfield finish as a well backed fav, there was still merit to the Tamworth return and Saintly Sands can settle closer second-up from a kinder draw.

There was plenty to like in two runs over her first campaign, which began with an eye-catching debut over 1200m and she then broke through at 1400m before being tipped out.

That January 23 event at Tamworth rated well for the class and meeting, while that maiden had produced multiple winners, including Cascade Mountain, who won four of his next five starts.

Scone Value Bet - Race 7 No. 9 Great Idea

He clearly had a few issues early, being so lightly raced for a rising six-year-old, however, Great Idea has some talent and he can pick off more races in his second prep.

The son of So You Think outperformed a long starting price on debut in March when running the fastest closing splits of a decent maiden and he won a Scone trial ahead of his winter return.

While he was competitive first-up, Great Idea wasn't able to finish off and with a colder steer via his latest, he showed a nice turn-of-foot off a slow speed when saluting on heavy ground.

Pryde's Easifeed BM58 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Scone Best Bet - Race 8 No. 6 Cresta Run

In a Class 1 that appeared to have more depth than this BM58, this Brett Cavanough-trained galloper produced a strong effort fresh on June 23 (second-fastest last 400m and 200m of the card).

As a result of that encouraging first-up performance, we were with Cresta Run second-up on July 11, where she had to settle for a runner-up finish and the filly was heavily backed there.

Despite being well held behind an all-the-way winner, there was still merit to that last outing, where Cresta Run recorded the fastest last 400m of the meeting and she'll only strip fitter third-up.
