Ipswich Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Larusso

The four-year-old is a dual winner from four starts, having broken his maiden when debuting at this venue in September last year.

The gelding came home over half-a-length clear of his thirteen rivals when racing over 1350m on good ground that day.

Larusso also had to overcome a wide alley and he returned from a spell with a good effort in finishing third over the same track/trip at the end of May.

The son of So You Think raced on a Heavy 8 track when beaten just over five-and-a-half-lengths that day and he recorded a win upped in trip at Doomben next time.

He competed in a 1640m Class 1 handicap in that Doomben contest and he showed solid form when finishing fourth in a 1690m event here earlier this month.

That effort marked Jack Bruce’s representative’s most recent run and with the distance and underfoot conditions expected to suit, he is taken to record the third win of his career.

Urban Precinct Planning QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)

Ipswich Roughie - Race 3 No. 10 Very Demure

Liam Birchley’s filly registered some solid efforts in barrier trials prior to making her debut at Gold Coast in March.

Very Demure was never a factor that day, having raced from off the pace prior to finishing ninth in a 1000m maiden held on a Soft 5 track.

The daughter of Winning Rupert was spelled following that effort and she demonstrated marked improvement at Grafton via her only subsequent start.

She again raced on a Soft 5 surface when staying on nicely to claim third in a 1015m maiden contest earlier this month.

The youngster shaped as if further would suit that day and she has trialled well with a close third on the inner track at the Sunshine Coast subsequently.

Cejay Graham, on board last time out, is again set to ride and with further improvement expected, her mount can outperform a long starting price.

Living Turf Benchmark 65 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Ipswich Value Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Likeabeel

The veteran performer has been out of form in three starts this prep, finishing unplaced on each occasion.

However, it’s of note that the gelding has had things against him this prep, including when racing over distances short of his best in all three of those starts.

The most recent of those efforts saw the son of Foxwedge deliver a sixth-place finish when beaten nearly fifteen lengths in an 1800m handicap at Gold Coast.

Likeabeel raced on a Soft 7 track that day and the switch to the Heavy 10 track forecast is a positive, having finished in the first three in eight of his nine starts on heavy going.

Those efforts include a defeat by less than a length when third in a Benchmark 80 handicap over 2400m at Eagle Farm in April.

Patrick Busuttin’s representative is a proven track performer, having won twice here in the past and with the extra distance in his favour, he looks value.

The Ipswich Tribune QTIS Three-Year-Old Benchmark 70 Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Ipswich Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Joppa Lane

The three-year-old showed up well when breaking his maiden at this venue at the end of April.

The gelding came home nearly a length clear of his rivals when competing in a 1240m maiden held on a Soft 5 surface.

Joppa Lane was ridden cold that day, picking up nicely in the straight to deliver a comfortable victory, having disappointed at Eagle Farm via his previous start.

Matt Hoysted’s representative has recorded top three finishes in two of his three subsequent outings, including at Eagle Farm earlier this month.

He came home less than a length behind the winner when again ridden cold, having jumped at big odds for a 1200m handicap that day.

The drop down from metro level racing is a positive here, while Joppa Lane also draws well.
