Rosehill Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 6 Oakfield Jupiter

She opened her career with back-to-back provincial wins before a shot at the stumps via a Listed event and then spelled. Off good trial work, we were with Oakfield Jupiter when she saluted first-up on October 25, where the four-year-old sat handy, so Aaron Bullock can cross early from a wide draw, and it’s worth respecting that the gun country hoop comes for just one ride on the meeting.

Motoscafo is the main danger, coming from the same race, and she was strong late. A small weight swing sits in that rival’s favour here, but I suspect Oakfield Jupiter has the higher ceiling and there’s improvement to come.

She’s shown a professional racing style from the outset and looks adaptable enough to offset the barrier. Expect her to settle close to the speed and prove hard to reel in again.

This shapes as another winnable assignment early in the prep, and with fitness on her side, Oakfield Jupiter can make it two straight.

Ranvet Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Rosehill Favourite - Race 4 No. 5 Shady Thinker

An interesting acceptor, as you rarely get Adelaide horses to Sydney, especially for benchmark events. It may be en route for Shady Thinker ahead of a potential Magic Millions campaign in Queensland, although that’s still a few months away.

They may be trialling him here in the clockwise direction first. He’s a classy operator who has won three of four starts, highlighted by a strong on-speed performance in March’s Magic Millions SA 3 & 4YO Classic, while his only defeat came when unsuited dropping back in trip before a spell.

They’ve engaged a strong rider in Nash Rawiller, and Shady Thinker finds a thin race that looks a suitable platform to measure up. The stable clearly wants to see how he handles the direction and the Sydney tempo.

If he runs to his South Australian form, he’s right in this. There’s enough class about him to make an immediate impression.

Cincotta Chemist Hot Danish Stakes Tips (Race 7)

Rosehill Value Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Pounce

I just wonder if the two favourites are vulnerable. Miss Roumbini covered ground last start, so there were excuses, but she needs to bounce quickly two weeks after a tough run. Miraval Rose may have already peaked for the prep going off the fourth-up Caulfield effort.

Pounce is on Australian debut and has worked nicely in her two Sydney trials. She drew wide in the Five Diamonds Prelude on October 25 and was scratched from that engagement.

If she wasn’t ready, Pounce could’ve easily been sent around there for a hit-out anyway, so perhaps the strongest lead is that they didn’t want to waste the fresh run. That generally tells you she’s going well.

Straight to 1400m looks suitable and she's an each-way quote in this fresh assignment.

Five Diamonds Tips (Race 8)

Rosehill Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 3 Bullet Point

Transatlantic is a deserved favourite as he’s flying, form reading strong from his Group 1 Toorak triumph, and he then easily took out the Prelude to this feature on October 25. The main knock is 1800m, as 1600m has seemingly just been his limit.

Fresh on the scene is Bullet Point, prepared by William Haggas, and the English trainer has a superb Sydney record. He failed at Group 3 level in August, but that was on a two-day back-up, and prior touch was consistent.

He doesn’t appear overly brilliant, but he’s a strong type who can sustain a long gallop, which could suit this setup. That pattern gives him a chance to test the favourite late.

If the race is genuinely run, Bullet Point can work into it and make his presence felt. He looks the value among the leading hopes.

Rosehill Bowling Club Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Rosehill Best Bet - Race 10 No. 9 Frosty Girl

She’s aiming to stretch her unbeaten run to four and looks well placed to do so. It’s technically a rise in grade, but her soft fresh win at Warwick Farm over Alabama Fox — who had handy form lines last season — reads well.

The third-placed Pictor had beaten home Panova prior to that, a filly who won her two starts at Group 3 level, and Frosty Girl gave weight to both Alabama Fox and Pictor. Those references hold up strongly for this race.

Her turn-of-foot got her out of trouble in slowly run races when going two-from-two to open the account in June, while she carries 3.5kg less from the recent return and just needs even luck from gate one.

She’s progressive, well weighted, and looks the horse they’ll all need to beat. Frosty Girl remains the clear standout of the program.
