Mornington Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 13 Street Artist
Freshened and then gelded after his first two starts, Street Artist provided an immediate spark with the ultimate gear change on September 5 when bolting in over this track and trip.
Proven Mornington form is always key on this unique circuit, and the youngster is prepared here.
He then went back-to-back in a good BM64 at Bendigo before finishing runner-up to Pallaton, a subsequent Group 3 winner, when last seen over the Flemington carnival.
The three-year-old also produced the fastest last 800m, 600m and 400m of the Melbourne Cup Day meeting.
He looks destined for better races than this, and with two solid jump-outs completed leading in, Street Artist is well placed to kick off his second campaign with a win.
Quayclean Mornington Guineas Tips (Race 7)
Mornington Value Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Berlemont
The debut victory at Pakenham was better than the margin suggests, when forced to take an inside passage, which often isn't the place to be at Pakenham.
Staying at 1400m for the Future Stars Final did work against him, however, Berlemont was the follow from that $250,000 event when getting home with the fastest last 400m and 200m of the race.
And then on the fresh side at Flemington, he again remained at 1400m when having no favours by settling at the rear and covering ground throughout.
He still did well to find the line there with the race’s second-fastest last 200m.
Berlemont could well get over further, but stepping to a mile now looks perfect, and Daniel Stackhouse takes the reins.

Mornington Feature Bet - Race 8 No. 8 Basilinna
It's a very competitive edition of the Mornington Cup, with the in-form Ambassadorial aiming for a four-peat off his Easter Cup victory on April 4.
He comfortably had the measure of a lot of key rivals he re-opposes here, although he is untried at 2400m and does go up 2.5kg.
One that could improve out of sight third-up over this trip is Basilinna, who was both outclassed and unsuited in a fast-run Australian Cup.
That should top her off for this longer trip, and there wasn’t a whole lot to fault in her autumn campaign last year.
That included a 2800m victory at Flemington to round out the prep, following two runner-up finishes, and she is capable of settling closer from a lower draw this time around.

Mornington Roughie - Race 9 No. 1 Desert Lightning
Desert Lightning has weight to give to all rivals in the Hareeba Stakes, but the impost is warranted as a three-time Group winner.
He is generally thereabouts, and most of those performances have come in much stronger affairs than he finds here.
Versatile in regard to distance, the only time he has finished out of the money in six first-up attempts was when resuming in the All Aged Stakes 12 months ago.
That was an eighth-of-14 finish behind Jimmysstar, Joliestar and company at Group 1 weight-for-age level.
In Australia, he has had two tries at 1200m, the first a Listed third at Moonee Valley when covering ground with 61kg behind A Little Deep and Arkansaw Kid, giving weight to both.
Mercedes-Benz Mornington Handicap Tips (Race 10)
Mornington Best Bet - Race 10 No. 10 Duchess Zou
Working towards a peak performance is the Ciaron Maher-trained Duchess Zou.
While there’s an opportunity to get over a little more ground off two 1200m runs and staying at six furlongs here, coming out of a fast-run race last time at Caulfield should have her spot on now.
That followed what was effectively a barrier trial first-up at Cranbourne, and she improved from that.
Class was evident in her first campaign, with three wins and two placings recorded.
That winter campaign rounded out with a seven-furlong Flemington victory after placing at Listed level behind Bridal Waltz, who was a Group 3 winner at her next start, and she was also competitive in Group 1 company last month.
